Over the years, Marching Chiefs added the position of Assistant Drum Major (and later a second) to serve as an additional field commander and conductor. The band has served in this capacity since the 1940s and continues to perform at all home football games as well as several away games each year; they have also performed at baseball and softball games. Most section cheers tend to be either well-known pop songs, opportunities to poke fun at school opponents/other sections or inside jokes.
