The MBTA rented the restored station building for commercial use in 1991. The remaining buildings of Norwood Shops were demolished in the 1990s for an expanded station parking lot. Solar panels were installed over part of this parking lot in 2018 – one of the first three of a planned 37 such installations at MBTA parking lots.
