On regular occasions, the road is completely congested from Luss to the Balloch roundabout. The road ends at a roundabout with the 724:, it follows the general route of the Old Military Road that runs along the shoreline in several places, but it generally keeps some distance to the west. Along with several other roads in the Highlands, the A82 between Tyndrum and Glencoe has been installed with permanent gates that are closed in the event of severe weather.
