He held his next appointment at Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) at Maastricht University as an External consultant from 1986 till 1987, Researcher from 1987 till 1988 and Chief researcher from 1988 till 1999. Since 1999, he is Professor of Economics at the School of Business and Economics (SBE), Maastricht University, and from 2013 to 2020, he was Director of ROA.
