The existing analog dubbing equipment (film projector and mag dubbers) were kept intact, and a digital sound and projection chain was implemented that would run in parallel with the analog chain, allowing for traditional film dubbing to take place on the stage while providing SMPTE-based sync for the Synclavier and Direct-to-Disc digital workstations that now resided on the digital part of the dub stage.
