102:. Justice Castles received a JD from the University of Montana in 1949 and went into private practice in Missoula, Montana. He later served as County Attorney for Missoula County. He ran unsuccessfully for State Attorney General. Justice Castles served as Executive Secretary and Legal Counsel to Governor J. Hugo Aronson and as Director of the State Unemployment Compensation Commission from 1953-1955. Castles was appointed to the Montana Supreme Court in 1957 by Governor Aronson to replace Justice Forrest H. Anderson who resigned upon his election as State Attorney General. While on the bench, he headed the Criminal Law Commission, which rewrote the entire filed of criminal law in Montana.
