The poets Auden and Betjeman were entertained by the apparent naïvety of Bradford's poetry. However, Betjeman appreciated the poet, whom he visited in Nordelph. Lamenting that Bradford's poetry never made it into anthologies, he made an effort to popularise it and anthologised the poem "Paddy Maloy".
