Springfield by Home City Development, Inc. for the purpose of adapting and reusing the building as affordable housing. Home City Development secured a variety of construction and permanent financing sources including State and federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits; Low Income Housing Tax Credits; City of Springfield HOME and Community Preservation Act funds; soft loans from MA Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities; a TD Bank construction loan; and MassHousing workforce and permanent loans. Construction began in March 2021 and was complete in April 2022. The building now includes 42 one, two and three-bedroom rental apartments, 35 of which are affordable to households with income at or below 60% of Area Median, and 7 affordable to households with income at or below 80% of Area Median.
