Ort ein Wappen. Nach der
Beschreibung standen oben nebeneinander die Löwen von Bamberg und Gera, unten war ein grüner Wald zu sehen. Abdrucke dieses Siegels sind nicht überliefert. Bischof Veit II. von Würtzburg (1561 bis 1577) änderte 1567 das Wappen, nachdem die Herren von Gera ausgestorben waren und Nordhalben nun ganz hochstiftisch war. Der Löwe von Gera wurde mit dem Wappen der Herren von Würtzburg ausgetauscht: in Gold der Rumpf eines langbärtigen alten Mannes in schwarzer Kleidung, mit einer schwarzen Zipfelmütze, an dessen Spitze ein roter Stern sitzt. Unter der Herrschaft von Bischof Philipp von Gebsattel (1599 bis 1609) fiel das Wappen der Herren von Würtzburg weg, an seine Stelle trat ein Bocksrumpf, die Wappenfigur aus dem Wappen der Herren von Gebsattel. Im Siegel von 1636 erscheint wieder das Wappen in der Form von 1567. Von 1819 bis 1870 fehlte der bambergische Löwe als Hinweis auf den einstigen Herrschaftsinhaber. Die grünen Bäume stellen die Lage des Ortes im Frankenwald dar.
