Првобитно је то био краљевски манастир који је основао краљ Милутин. Ђрђелез Алија је од цркве направио кућу, како би са висине контролисао улазак у Горњачку клисуру. Обновљена је после одласка Турака. Ово је један од ретких храмова, који је ктитор подигао сам, својим рукама.
