Highsmith Archive.; Gift; The Lyda Hill Foundation; 2014; (DLC/PP-2014:054).; Opened on Wednesday, July 15, 1924, it was designed by architects George Mann and Eugene Stern and named after William Rhodes Grim, a prominent businessman. The the eight-story, 250-room hotel featured stone walls and marble flooring, and it featured many ammenities, including a cafe, the famous Palm Court, and a rooftop garden that could quickly convert to a large ballroom. Hotel Grim was the location of many parties for the rich that featured big-name jazz bands.
