for the Cardinals in 1914 and 1915. Manager Miller Huggins tried to convert Robinson to a reliever during his time in St. Louis, but arm trouble limited Robinson's success. His record with the Cardinals was 14-16, over the two seasons. Robinson preferred to remain near his Arkansas home and throughout his career turned down major league opportunities to remain in Arkansas. He was optioned by the Cardinals to the Pacific Coast League in the winter of 1915, but refused to report. Reluctantly, the Cardinals optioned him to the Little Rock Travelers for the 1916 and 1917 seasons. He was 32 - 18 over those seasons. In 1918, Robinson was 8-2 for Little Rock when the Southern Association closed the season on June 30 due to the effects of World War I. Miller Huggins, Robinson's former manager and now manager of the Yankees, signed him to finish the season for New York. Robinson was 2-4 with the Yankees before leaving unexpectedly in mid-August. His last game with the Yankees would be his last in the major leagues. Ironically, the game on August 12, 1918, resulted in a 2 - 1 victory for Robinson over the Red Sox. The losing pitcher for Boston was Babe Ruth.

Robinson's career major league record was 42-37. After a brief trial with the Pirates in late 1911, he enjoyed two successful seasons with Pittsburgh in 1912 and 1913. His combined record with the Pirates was 26 - 17. Robinson was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in the winter of 1913 and pitched
