526:, was very unpopular with eastern Oregon senators who universally supported Upton. Some of these eastern Oregon senators threatened to leave Upton if Moser supported him. However, after Upton personally assured the eastern Oregon senators he would not make any special deals with Moser, they agreed to continue to support him.
