179:, the name of Jangyang-dong was "Jamajang" (雌馬場), which translates to "female horse field." The term "jamajang" refers to a female horse. In the early days of the Joseon Dynasty, there was a legend that if one were to raise a thousand horses, a mythical creature called Yongma (龍馬), a dragon-horse, would be born. This led to a great interest in horse breeding in various regions. Jangyang-dong, being an area where fertile sediments flowed through the Han River and accumulated, had vast natural fields, making it advantageous for grazing horses. As a result, a significant number of female horses were raised in this area. Having a large number of female horses in a ranch facilitates the mass breeding of horses through reproduction. The name "Jamajang" was later changed to "Jamajang-ri" (雌馬場里), and during the period of Japanese colonial rule, the Chinese character for "ja" (馬) was changed to 紫, resulting in the current name of Jangyang-dong. 715: 794: 854: 332: 235: 835: 758: 415: 188: 259: 453: 325: 859: 341: 77: 714: 473: 828: 211: 542: 478: 420: 318: 296: 723: 821: 665: 532: 239: 90: 700: 310: 675: 591: 151: 566: 446: 215: 695: 670: 621: 611: 571: 655: 637: 616: 596: 581: 552: 522: 505: 345: 793: 660: 650: 626: 576: 517: 512: 495: 267: 690: 685: 680: 641: 586: 561: 527: 488: 805: 731: 606: 500: 483: 439: 359: 305: 176: 848: 601: 394: 374: 164: 156: 104: 399: 378: 364: 773: 760: 17: 388: 369: 743: 737: 263: 68: 65: 62: 288: 46: 801: 462: 160: 57: 435: 314: 431: 809: 238:(in Korean).
