The mall was designed by Robin Gibson and opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982. It has been refurbished and extended a number of times. In 2013 it was the site of a siege that saw the mall go into a lockdown. It features several shopping malls, a steel structure for shade and an entertainment stage.
