mama bear who had lost her own offspring to a particularly harsh and unrelenting winter. She nursed the orphaned
Barnetts, kept them warm at night and loved them as her own. Many a wolf and weasel rued the day and bore the scars from when it came in for a closer look at her young charges! She was a good mama up until the day a hunter took her for a trophy, leaving her three young cubs to fend for themselves. It was right about that time the gentle folk of Cotton first encountered the three wild boys, when like any other half-starved bruins will do, the children were forced from the bosom of the forest to forage for foodstuffs along the outskirts of the town.
