As the title really, Owen Owen closed in 1993, but there was a TJ Hughes in the old Co-op department store along the road, which I think appeared late 90s. It must have closed around 2007 now looking back. The building is riddled with asbestos and so to this day sits empty and abandoned with signs of

Re: list of Owen Owen branches I notice that there is no mention of
Taunton on the list. Taunton once had a branch of Owen Owen, it closed down at 5:30pm on Saturday 15 July 1978. WHSmith moved into the vacated store, and opened autumn 1980.

Further to my comments above I believe the 1975 date may have been when the store was rebranded. This is because
Richard Maddox in Shrewsbury, according to the Shropshire History site, was bought by Owen Owen in 1966.
