Verendrye, North Dakota

Source 📝

190:, an early French-Canadian explorer who was said to be the first non-Native American person to tour the North Dakota prairies. The population of Falsen in 1920 was 75. The population of Verendrye in 1938 was 100, but when the railroad switched to diesel locomotives, it no longer needed to make regular stops at Verendrye for water and coal. This was the beginning of Verendrye's final decline, with the post office closing in 1965, and the final residents moved away in 1970. A farmstead now occupies the townsite, and the last remnant of Verendrye, the crumbling remains of the Falsen School, sits in a corner of the property. 750: 54: 1121: 163: 1178: 36: 61: 628: 187: 1258: 1253: 1248: 1238: 1162: 1263: 1268: 1219: 313: 869: 621: 397: 82: 288: 1278: 568: 1273: 614: 53: 799: 1243: 909: 854: 989: 959: 894: 884: 864: 859: 844: 279: 252: 944: 804: 1155: 1067: 939: 849: 834: 819: 979: 954: 789: 769: 974: 914: 899: 879: 839: 829: 814: 809: 784: 774: 522: 465: 964: 949: 924: 904: 889: 874: 824: 779: 139: 984: 969: 929: 794: 1212: 934: 919: 577: 202: 198: 606: 284: 482: 220: 1148: 447: 340: 183: 638: 414: 123: 1205: 1091: 405: 1014: 443: 213: 1009: 562: 418: 274: 714: 709: 179: 131: 739: 679: 186:.
