Smith wrote about how he wanted to receive the Spirit Baptism, so when Lake and the other Azusa missionaries arrived in South Africa, he received his Spirit Baptism. Smith and another Azusa missionary, Henry Turney, organised to create a work that eventually became the Assemblies of God in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
