In the 1970s, as part of the construction of the Sutton Centre School, a public ice rink was provided. In 2008, the Brook Street swimming pools and the Sutton Centre ice rink were closed and the Lammas Leisure Centre on Lammas Road opened. The formal opening was performed by Dame Kelly Holmes.
