Anyway, I'll soon be done splitting off the remaining European countries, so a few weeks from now, this template will only be used for material relating to three conflict areas: Cyprus, Kosovo and Transnistria, and I don't consider the EU flag appropriate in such contexts either. WP:WSS uses a lot of other "per continent" templates, including European templates, and they don't use icons - with the exception of a small number of South American templates that use a map.
