WHO, etc. were calling for it. Talking to my daughter Jane the other day about the changes in birth from when I had her when there was one midwife in all of Minneapolis and while I wanted to use her, nobody felt it was safe at that time. (I remember asking her about the episiotomy and she said, "I let them tear naturally", and now all these years later it is finally known that she was correct.) I did nurse her despite all odds as it was very rare at that time. And then when Jane had her first it was in a kiddie swimming pool in their living room with a midwife attending. But I chuckled telling her about how I watched my dog Maya gave birth in such a loving and sensible way to her 13 puppies, carefully biting the cord and licking them clean --I suggested to Jane that who knows--perhaps the licking part is also an important and marvelous thing that gets the baby off to a good start and perhaps one day we will say, "Remember back when we were so dumb and didn't know to lick the baby clean all over after it was born?"

to a particular or developing 'practice' (involving a group of people or workers) working towards acquiring/gathering and supplying of energy that does not use/deplete the earth's own natural reserves/sources of energy. Also, eventually, discussions will lead to words like 'renewable energy', and renewable energy refers to energy sources that are by all practical-purposes (assumed) to be inexhaustible (at least meaning still obtainable for the duration of our own civilisation's lifespan). The main issue is that there is always talk about these words 'sustainable energy' and 'renewable energy', and there appears to be no decent definition of their 'meaning'. Sure, lots of various sources provide some definitions, but I think the 'go-to' source (like Knowledge (XXG)) can really help everyone out by providing some really solid definitions.

You can best do that by adding/changing what you said in the main thread. Alternatively, use the table's talk page. I reserve the option of reverting your table tweaks, because, after all, the table is nothing more than a summary of hwat I heard, and I don't believe you can accurately read my mind to know what I heard. problems with this approach (e.g., wet nursing in well-off European families was sometimes used as a way of maximizing legitimate births), but overall there seemed to be an understanding that the mother needed recovery time, and that this meant that other people had to take care of the baby, the food, the household, etc. I hear that the modern American approach is to expect the mother to get up and do everything as soon as possible after the birth, with very little help and no encouragement to prioritize self-care over anything else. Finding some sources that compare and contrast over time and across cultures could be very interesting.

nurse, traditionally, that's where we clicked in as the boss of patient care (back when there were few woman physicians)...so it was not surprising at all that the medical references that were being used just skipped that part...hard to put into just a few words what I'm getting at here because it gets into the whole male/female power structure that we are finally making headway into disassembling. Anyway, back on track, I believe that the skin-to-skin (kangaroo) info that I added is important and I'd like to see that added here as well. What do you think?

I am aware that you are Canadian and this is a Canadian issue, but the standards remain the same. This is an encyclopaedia with articles of encyclopaedic quality. This article does not do environmental science any credit. I do hope that you can see that .

That discussion started on the talk page for a new WikiProject recently proposed and was fully supported there, but when it was transferred to the GW talk page itself, suddenly it seemed to rub people up the wrong way and the discussion quickly became personal, at which point I bowed out.
