Could they move closer to the p orbital about which they are talking? Or maybe just vectors for the approach, labeled "a" and "b", with descriptions of what they mean in the article? Having English text makes it harder to reuse these images in other languages. Also, having lots text annotation makes the image cluttered and harder to reuse in other contexts (and scales poorly for .gif). There is actually a lot of vertical whitespace that could be tightened, and the "down" reaction-arrows shortened, which would make the whole image smaller. *General format of images: .png is usually preferable to .gif for these types of diagrams if your ChemDraw supports it. 2725:
