231: 249: 522:, I agree with you about the EV/importance of the image. Sadly (I suspect) we are looking at (source image) the end result of what happened when someone decided to break up one of the books without taking proper care. Instead of taking the book apart at the binding, they may have cut out the plates. If the left margin can be properly restored (along with some light cleaning of more prominent spots), I will support it.-- 258: 332: 267: 240: 51: 285:
I doubt that what we see is the true left edge of the print. Possibly the print has been cut out of a book, and the "No. 1" text disappeared into the spine. The left-hand edge is odd. At first it looks ragged, and I thought it was the actual cut edge, but looking more closely it seems to have been
422:
for this image has a damaged left margin which was cropped off leaving no margin at all on the bottom left with slivers missing in two places. The "restoration" has left visible areas of off-color cloning as well. Is this image rare enough to overlook these
568:
I do understand why it was uploaded like it was uploaded. The N you were remarking about is gone on the original, it is damaged and not visible. But the rest is fine. Sometimes I sincerely have difficulties understanding this kind of perfectionism.
286:
cropped in a series of slightly stepped exact straight lines, as if done in multiple stages in an image editor for some reason. I'm not saying it's a big deal; it's just puzzling.
686: 497:
wouldn't have anything against sharing the nomination with anyne who puts the energy into that restoration ... (category should probably be illustration, though).
201:
Print techniques can differ from edition to edition, depending on how they use the paper and the plate. However the rest is 7,787 Ă— 11,601 pixels and magnifique.
485:- the image is an extremly high qualty drawing - and is rare enough to be worth the energy put into, it is the very first image in the utterly notable book 97: 676: 17: 681: 287: 230: 184: 564: 540:
Well, Adam said he can try. Later. But if they are taken from a book, than it can be difficult to get a good scan. Maybe suspend?

In the top left-hand corner there is some text that looks like it should say "No 1", but most of the "N" is chopped off.
457:- Agreed. We can do better than this. It's also poorly documented - no uploading of the original scan, for example. 291: 75:
Beautiful Audubon colour engraving of the world's most fabulous fowl. Oh, that haughty posture—makes me hungry!

There is only a 62.5% support for promotion, which isn't enough for the image to become featured.

Perhaps, but I doubt the original engraving had the lower land right up to the margins. —

per Godot's findings. That should be fixable by revisiting the source image. —
257: 331: 605:
I have to agree with Adam on this. A missing part of a letter is fixable. —
588:
Because we actually have people who can fix thaat much better than this is?

Gorgeous... but is it just me, or are the margins a bit tight? —
623:
Looks like the paper is missing too... that the letter was on.
565:
Here is the original. I think that under the circumstances
