- Vauge license, License listed at source given isn't explictly creative commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:04, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
The original source t&C has been updated. Please, have a look - https://slotcasinogames.com/terms-and-conditions/ Let me know if there is anything else needed. If not - please, close the dispute and renew the file. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jungles13 (talk • contribs) 11:52, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- You (or the source site) needs to EXPLICITLY state it's Creative Commons Attribution at the source site, and explicitly allow commercial re-use. I will also note that the file here appears to be unused, and that a URl for the site it is connected with was seemingly removed as apparent spam previously (https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Slot_machine&diff=next&oldid=666344227 diff). Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:25, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- I see this in the terms and conditions:
2.1. Copyright © SlotCasinoGames.com.
2.3. All digital material such as pdf, word documents, images, logo, videos etc. in this website are free to reuse and republish. Nevertheless, you need to refer the https://slotcasinogames.com as an original source somewhere in the page where the pdf, word documents, images, videos etc.material has been published. Then referenced material has been protected by Copyright Attribution 1.0 license and, therefore, need to have appropriate copyright reference. |
- The linked website contains a slightly different logo (with coins). If this logo (without coins) appears somewhere on the website, then I guess that {{cc-by-1.0}} applies. Note that CC-BY states that "You must keep intact all copyright notices for the Work" but we are not keeping the copyright notice intact, which is a violation of the CC-BY terms. I guess inserting the copyright notice somewhere on the file information page is sufficient.
- The current copyright tag, {{PD-textlogo}}, is of course incorrect. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:10, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

- Organnisational logo, which may not be uploaders to relicense as own work. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:48, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Obvious solution is to retain the logo under a fair use rationale, which is how logos are usually handled. (Even if the uploader did design the logo themselves, the company's legal team might not want the design licensed under Creative Commons, and as a work for hire the company would get to decide rather than the designer.) I'll see if I can explain this to Edito Freak. —GrammarFascist contribs 20:29, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sure enough, it turned out the uploader just made common newbie mistakes when uploading. I have corrected the Summary and Licensing sections of the file's information page to reflect the correct status image and include a Fair Use rationale. —GrammarFascist contribs 10:14, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: Keep per snowball clause . The issue of license is discussed in Talk:Windows 10 Mobile. A non-free use rationale is added and the licensing issue is corrected. - Obvious solution is to retain a low-resolution copy of the logo under a fair use rationale, which is how logos are usually handled. (Even if the uploader did design the logo themselves, the company's legal team might not want the design licensed under Creative Commons, and as a work for hire the company would get to decide rather than the designer.) I just resolved a similar issue with File:PepperTap Logo.png. I'll contact Sharma Nishtha and hopefully the Advantage India logo issue can be resolved as well. —GrammarFascist contribs 10:22, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- Turns out the only place this logo would reasonably be used is on an article still in draft status, so for Fair Use a low-res copy would have to be uploaded after the draft moves to mainspace. I explained this to the uploader and await their response. —GrammarFascist contribs 10:54, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

- Logo is not actually simple. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:33, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'd say it's quite simple, being made of the same overlapping geometric shape, but if others agree I'm sure we can go with another kind of tag. MrPenguin20 (talk) 18:20, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Logo definitely does not seem to qualify as simple as that term is used with reference to whether a design is copyrightable. A single solid triangle would be the kind of thing intended to be described as "simple" in this context; even three triangles repeated in the way this logo repeats probably would not count. —GrammarFascist contribs 11:00, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

- The half-toning on this image suggests a third party source other than that listed (assuming it was uploaded in good faith there.) . Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:26, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- The halftoning is likely due to the fact that the photograph was taken in 1931, and halftoning was not as good as it is today. I believe it to have been listed in good faith, and it was listed with a clear Creative Commons license (The website states: This license lets you distribute, remix, tweak, and build on this photo, even commercially, as long as you credit the original author.) Alfiecooper —Preceding undated comment added 23:38, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- That the listed source may have been Creative Commons is noted, but despite being uploaded in good faith there, it would be nice to get some further information about the original publication, the half-toning suggesting it's come from a programme or local news media. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:36, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- I understand. As I am new to Knowledge (XXG), could you please explain what the issue is? I can't see what the problem is if the file has been uploaded legitimately and why this may entitle it to be removed, but I am sure there is one. Thanks. Alfiecooper (talk) 11:46, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- The issue is that the source given (although in good faith) might not be the copyright holder for the image concerned,
and thusly the image may be unfree because Knowledge (XXG) doesn't have permission to use it. Without the original publication data it's not possible to determine if the original is public domain.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:17, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- This looks like a photo from something printed on a paper, possibly a newspaper. There are some black areas on the picture which could be dirt on a microfilm reader used for reading old newspapers. It's unlikely that the person who uploaded the picture to the website is the copyright holder, so the Creative Commons licence claim is probably invalid. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: keep and convert to fair use. Will be removed from all instances except Government of Rivers State. — ξ 05:07, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- It says that "Commercial use requires prior permission from the Government of Rivers State" which is inconsistent with the copyright tag used. Stefan2 (talk) 22:40, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Keep The logo can be used free of charge. Its use on Knowledge (XXG) is not for commercial purposes. Stanleytux (talk) 23:23, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Knowledge (XXG) is commercial because the website contains requests for donations once in a while. Apart from that, there is no evidence that the file is available under any licence whatsoever. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:41, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- This can probably be used only in Government of Rivers State as a non-free image but the other uses should be removed. ww2censor (talk) 10:56, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

- Delete Should not be marked as non-free as the file violates WP:NFCC#1. Also, the non-commercial licence on Flickr tells that the file is non-free. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:56, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
