Suspected sockpuppets

It has already been brought up by other editors that this user (under different accounts) has engaged in disruptive behavior regarding the article Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU Poly) and other related articles (1). My personal experience with the user includes uncivil edit summaries (1, 2, 3), and unjustified removal of maintenance templates (1, 2). In addition, by using IP locator software, IPs 128.238.***.** come from Brooklyn, NY, which is where NYU Poly is located leading me to believe that the user is indeed, in one way or another, affiliated with the university. Someone please block user Marco Guzman, Jr because

1. Desperately trying to promote California State Polytechnic University, Pomona by citing self-aggrandizing, self-hosted webpage of CalPoly http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/visitors/Distinction.asp which clearly has wrong info(it say there are 9 true polytechnic in the USA, in reality there are more than 10) in reputed colleges' wiki pages such as http://en.wikipedia.org/Rensselaer_Polytechnic_Institute http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Institute_of_Technology_(United_States)&action=history

2. keeps adding unsourced promo materials to all California State Polytechnic University, Pomona articles, lowering their quality. Sometimes the sources don't agree with the content. I just fixed the CalPoly engineering college article. He included academic boosterism in all California State Polytechnic University, Pomona articles

4. I started undoing all the edits done by Marco Guzman, Jr on the NYU-Poly wiki page after I figured that Marco Guzman, Jr was vandalising the page by deleting sourced materials while pretending to fix templates. Marco Guzman, Jr was basically using http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Institute_of_Technology_(United_States)&action=history to promote California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The very few people who know about it, know its standard. It is a high end http://en.wikipedia.org/ITT_Technical_Institute . He is coming after NYU-Poly because I didn't let him put the self-aggrandizing, self-hosted webpage of CalPoly http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/visitors/Distinction.asp as stated above, on the NYU_Poly page. He put that link on the wiki pages of all other nationally ranked prestigious polytechnics such as http://en.wikipedia.org/Worcester_Polytechnic_Institute , http://en.wikipedia.org/Rensselaer_Polytechnic_Institute

Also worth mentioning, he deletes soures such as us news college rankings website and restores the self-aggrandizing, self-hosted webpage of CalPoly http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/visitors/Distinction.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Institute_of_Technology_(United_States)&action=history

ALL California State Polytechnic University, Pomona ARTICLES CONTAIN FALSE SAT SCORES AND students to faculty ratio. Although the SAT scores listed are very low, in reality the SAT scores of CalPoly Ponoma are way more lower AS CAN BE SEEN FROM COLLEGEBOARD WEBSITE

I'll note that this user was created after CheckUser was last run and before any blocks or autoblocks were created. The last time CheckUser was run, 7 sockpuppets were found. It's funny you say that Martarius "added more references to the informations (sic) I provided" because the information you provided (1) is a verbatim copy of the peacock-ridden paragraphs (added by Mangoeater1000's socks) and who several editors erased from the NYU Poly article. Martarius added additional references to the informations I provided at least once, that I know for sure(2). What you are showing is what other editors did with the edits of the proven sock puppet. I tried to scavenge all the sourced material and put them back. Some of the sourced materials need to be restored. The talk page is always there for discussion and improvements. I don't know how this even matters, but since you(talk) said it, I am clarifying it again. I provided this link http://post.jagran.com/sam-pitroda-to-give-inaugural-address-at-nyu-engineering-school-1337055643 , Martarius added this link http://www.nyu.edu/about.html# . There is nothing wrong with this because all editors have the right to improve Knowledge. Everything I added are also not verbatim copy of what the sock puppet provided. If you take a closer look, you will see that I actually clarified that Russ, Gordon, Draper and Turing prizes are not really noble prizes. I also removed the "according to NYC Economic D...." comment. I know that this is not about Martarius. This is just a total waste of time, which will be proven when the case closes. After this case closes, I will work with world-class editors like me, such as talk, to turn IIT Bombay and NYU articles into award wining articles--Paniraja (talk) 03:47, 2 November 2012 (UTC)


Note that the user behind the sockpuppets may have changed locations, and/or uses different locations for different accounts (like Paniraja), to attempt to cover up their sockpuppeting. An IP address (108.97.191.186) recently edited my Talk page and Paniraja later signed it (http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User_talk:Schiez&diff=520935020&oldid=520931911). The IP address is different from the 128.238.110.* addresses (and possibly others) previously associated with the sockpuppets, although the location is relatively close. The user's brazen behaviour despite the account itself being new, and the very similar content of the edits (including the obsession with similar subjects such as rankings and awards at NYU-Poly, the characteristic extra/missing whitespaces around parentheses, etc.) seem to suggest more than a coincidence, but we'll see what happens after the investigation. --Schiez (talk) 16:33, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

WP:TURNIP, this rule allows me to say a lot. Firstly, I don't give a flying duck about your(Schiez) alleged "insults", and rather find them to be quite humorous. The facts that you only edit the NYU article, keep and PRESERVE3 only the "high" rankings despite the fact that several editors complained about it4, always preserve the garbage added by the sock puppets 5 and have a desire to make the last edit, all seem to propound that you are a gloss over wittingly peserving the edits of the sock puppets even after the puppets get killed. This is an edit from September 20, 2012 made by Mambo420 (a banned sockpuppet of Mangoeater1000). This is an edit from November 1st, 2012 made by Paniraja. Notice the portion on the non-existent "Nobel Prizes in Engineering" or "Nobel Prizes in Computing" added in both edits as they are identical. The chances that a new editor like Paniraja would come and specifically add this piece of information to the NYU article that had been removed from the NYU Poly article by myself on October 19, 2012 hints that this is not merely a coincidence. -- Marco Guzman, Jr  Talk  04:25, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Note also that even in the nonidentical additions, there is a consistent aversion to proper spacing before or after parentheses, which the sockpuppet accounts also practised. For example, there may be no whitespaces before, extra whitespaces after, etc. (e.g. 'word( word'). Although it's a minor syntax blemish, it's not a common one. Now, what are the chances of a user exhibiting the very particular syntax errors displayed by the sockpuppet accounts, editing in an excessive amount of details on the same narrow subject like the sockpuppet accounts had, with the account in question being created and disrupting in such a manner not long after the sockpuppet accounts had been banned, at a location a few hours drive from the location(s) of the sockpuppet accounts? --Schiez (talk) 06:09, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Although the talk page is the right place for discussing this, I am still doing it here. Because of the way the sockpuppets added the informations, it was natural for people to think that "Nobel Prizes in Engineering" and "Nobel Prize in Computing" exist, which in reality are not true. I clarified that they are not really Noble Prizes, but they are also known as Noble Prizes(see http://en.wikipedia.org/List_of_prizes_known_as_the_Nobel_of_a_field ). While I was editing, I came across the NYU-Poly article and saw that 72Dino (talk) added a huge list of presidents, which was already present on the List of NYU Polytechnic Institute people, so I removed the list .   • Crosspost: As this looks like a pretty clear-cut case, I've tagged two pages created by 72nino (an AfD and IP user's talk page) for G5 (blocked user) speedy deletion. Since the G5 template lacks a convenient SPI link for reviewing admins, I thought I'd mention this here, so that, assuming CU confirms this, the blocking admin can also delete those pages. When this was brought to my attention, I assumed it was a sockpuppet of whoever created the subject of the AFD in question, or whoever it was who first pointed out that the article was a hoax, and has since disrupted the AFD (who may very well be the same person... I plan on filing a separate SPI once the AFD closes). However, after seeing xyr sole other contribution, I'm inclined to think it's a Mangoeater sock, and thus request CU to a) confirm that this is in fact a Mangoeater sock, and not some strange coincidence, and b) check for sleepers, comme d'habitude. At the article on the Indian movie star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan both Ashhhfann and Isaacsirup have participated. Recently User:Isaacsirup was blocked as a sock of User:Mangoeater1000, and this was marked as a checkuser block by User:DoRD. The sudden creation of the User:Ashhhfann account soon after the block of Isacsirup suggests to me that he could be another sock. The account name suggests he is a fan of this actress. Since Ashhhfann had made four reverts I blocked him 72 hours for edit warring and probable socking, and put two months of semiprotection on the article to discourage newly-created registered socks. Since this article has been the subject of constant dispute it is possible that new Mangoeater socks will be created to join the fight there. A checkuser would justify extending the block of Ashhhfann to indefinite. EdJohnston (talk) 14:04, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

A host of brand-new single-purpose accounts have been editing New York Institute of Technology and/or its talk page. All six of these accounts have edited a talk page section supporting the mention of Richard A. Cody as a faculty/staff member of NYIT (see these edits by Meetralph2, Shucksunup23, Oiledkohl78, Plushnodal, Elviablood00, and Harterred). Given that all these accounts were created at almost the same time and have made essentially no edits anywhere else, it smells strongly to me like sockpuppetry (or possibly meatpuppetry). A CU check might confirm that all these accounts' edits are coming from a single source.

Additionally, since this would appear to be a fairly knowledgeable editor (newbies don't tend to jump in to talk page discussions like this), and someone intensely interested in the subject area of higher educational institutions in New York, I see a reasonably likely connection to Mangoeater1000 (SPI archive here, LTA page here); a CU check may be useful to confirm or discount this possibility. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 03:46, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

By a certain time, the Islam page is subject to the interventions from new created users working a short distance from each other and pushing the same pov, both in discussion and edit page. Now this is happening again: users LaResne was been referred to as unreliable and Clearwod and Dustylappss reappears, pushing in the edit section the same POV:https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Islam&offset=&limit=500&action=history This happened and also it is now happening in talk page as well, from Talk:Islam#Slavery_in_Islam thi on. Going on for several months, so much material has accumulated, but one thing is certain: their entries were and are highly questionable, and none of them were accepted by the community both in talk and edit page. But they push them together anyway, creating a continuous edit wars. They all appeared after user Slooppouts34, that pushed the same POV of them, but he is not posting from some time. LalaResne, Dustylappss and Thankcocoa accounts were created 2, 7 and 11 january; they all heavely (almnost only) edited one page alone, Islam. Cleatword stop posting 18 february, 15 february LalaResne also stop posting. Both resume posting the same day - 5 march - both editing the same page - Islam. Slooppouts34 and Dustylapps both stop posting 27 January (also Thankcocoa stop his post in this day); both resume posting 6 march. Where? In the same page of Cleatword and LalaResne. Both Slop1and Dusty2revert the same thing; used the same sentences 34the same sentences tha used an even older user, banned by TParis because “Clearly not here to contribute to building the encyclopedia: point of view pushing”: Helpwoks!56(here again Slop repeats words by words Helpwoks sentences 7) Again dusty 8 and lala 9 pushing the same pov in edit pages; participating in the same edit war, the same day, together with Clerwod 101112. Dusty 13 and Thankcocoa 14 again pushing the same pov. LaLaResne his now banned for 24 hours; slop15 reappers to push a pov of Cleatword16 in yet another edit war; Slop and LaLaResne also liked to cite the same openwiki 1718 It's the first time for me dealing with this kind of thing. As determined long time ago here User CallAng22 is definitely a sockpuppet with an agenda but was not blocked as no one wanted to do the hard work of filing SPI. He claims he dealing with such thing for the first time, but as proven from his account history, he only edits Islam article, and account was created for the sole purpose of editwarring. CallAng222 account was created on 20 January 2015, when there was an ongoing discussion in regard to whether or not to include slavery history in family life section for quite a long time, CallAng222 only made the amount of edits needed to get autoconfirmed so that he can edit the semiprotected Islam article. Ever since he had only edited that article and its talkpage, showing agenda and pushing POV. Whenever he returns, he do so to editwar on the same article. I can confirm that CallAng222's first 15 edits on Knowledge were adding wikilinks to articles (10 on 20 January, 5 more on 21 January) - a clear indication that he/she only did those edits to be autoconfirmed. Slooppouts34, I suggest that you start an SPI covering both CallAng222 and FreeatlastChitchat.
