Project
|
The WikiProject Baseball/Old-time Base Ball taskforce was founded on January 16, 2007 to record, preserve, and organize the pre-1900 history of baseball. This project follows the guidelines set forth by our parent project, WikiProject Baseball, and aims to create, maintain, improve, and promote as many articles as possible. If you think you can make a positive contribution to the project, please feel free to contribute in any positive manner you wish; you can start by adding your name to the member list below.

Scope
|
An article falls under our scope if it directly relates to pre-1900 baseball articles to include, but not limited to, players, managers, umpires, ballparks, and founders. Also related are the many categories and lists covering teams, notable minor leagues, and all-time rosters.

Tasks & Goals
|
General Tasks
- To create an article on each and every player who has played in any of the top professional 19th-century leagues, which MLB has designated as "major" leagues. These are as follows: National League (NL), American Association (AA), Union Association (UA), and Players' League (PL). The National Association for our purposes is treated as a "major" league due its status as the top professional baseball league during its five year existence from 1871 to 1875.
- Tagging all pre-1901 baseball articles using the template on the appropriate talk page, and to update the category Category:19th-century baseball players in conjunction with its corresponding list: List of 19th-century baseball players.
- Improve each individual season article before 1901; example 1876 in baseball
- Upload free-use pictures to Wikimedia Commons. Most pictures created prior to 1923 are public domain, and are free use.
