Apparently not. This claim was in the article for years with a 'citation needed' tag, but no-one ever found a RS for it. If it were still true, I'd expect we could find something, so it might just be historical trivia. It could be that some individuals continued to use the 1947 and 1958 International

I worked in an airline company call center and it was very often that I would hear "indigo" for I instead of "India" with English speakers around the globe making their ticket and luggage reservations using the NATO spelling. Has anyone else heard this? I would say 90% of the people say "indigo" and
