279:"A P. antiquus specimen (AMNH 1942) showing muscle impressions" - the tiny image makes it impossible to see these, even if the reader knows what to look for. Perhaps a) make the thumbnail larger b) use a cropped image to draw attention to the muscles, and c) use an .SVG image (including a cropped bitmap) to provide some graphic help e.g. an outline or arrows to point out the muscles. I suppose some caption engineering would help a little. 42: 334:
Well, since you stated that it doesn't have the impressions, it may be inaccurate to put that as the caption? The image itself does sit within the Classification section, so it has nothing related to what the paragraphs say, so it can easily be substituted...?
319:
And you'd draw on the muscles? But it doesn't have the impressions ... I think the impressions were quite reasonably sharp on the other image, but perhaps an Unsharp Mask would help (with or without an Edge Preserving Smooth first).
431:
Many thanks. The new image is fine, though it would be nice to draw the reader's attention to the muscles in the image, with SVG graphics or some sort of explanation of what and where in the caption.
494:
I see there's no 'In human culture' section. This seems a shame for such an iconic species, which created great excitement on its discovery. Perhaps that should be mentioned; there is indeed
361:
Now I have no idea what you are talking about. The image originally in the article certainly had impressions; the one you propose above as a replacement doesn't, so it doesn't seem suitable.
241:"Preserved fossil specimen of the species Rhamphorhynchus muensteri" - aren't all fossils preserved specimens? The wording doesn't seem necessary and isn't used on any other image. 211:
50 pixels really makes the cladogram images very small (hard to see). Perhaps around 80px would be better (it's certainly quite usual); the trees are not especially large.
80: 47: 70: 538:
I've included the 'In popular culture' section, and I think you've already seen it. Should I change anything, though? Or maybe include something more?
652: 599: 555: 526: 462: 422: 392: 352: 310: 126: 635:, I've just started yesterday with it. Anyways, I'm happy that this iconic creature has passed the GA review, thanks again for the efforts! 608:
Many thanks, good work. I'm happy to pass this now. It would be great if you could pick one or two articles to review from the GAN list.
375:
Oh, I actually got confused with what you said before. I'll try with the Unsharp mask for the image then. I apologize for the confusion.
182:'"Naturalienkabinett", or nature cabinet' - the Wikilink should be displayed in full as Cabinet of curiosities, as that is its ancestry. 156: 122: 52: 509:
As for the 'In human culture' section, which I think would be better as 'In popular culture', might take time, but I'll start today.
445:
I've specified putting "in the chest and wing-membranes" in the caption, since that's where the muscles are, would it work, though?
107: 75: 99: 502:
were "pterodactylic" (see there for citations). Not to mention merchandise, soft toys, etc. The section can be quite brief.
648: 595: 551: 522: 458: 418: 388: 348: 306: 293:
one (it's actually a fossilized pelvis), I know it has nothing to do with the previous one, but would it still work?
177:
WOW, that was fast! It's just today that I've nominated it, also, thanks! Anyway, I've finished with the corrections.
289:
Hey, I tried to upload a cropped version of the muscle impressions, but it looks all blurred, so I was thinking of
636: 613: 583: 573: 539: 510: 446: 436: 406: 376: 366: 336: 325: 294: 226: 150: 286:
The image may take a while, but I'll try to upload a cropped version of it showing the muscle impressions.
405:
of the image, is it OK now, or should I do more adjustments? Also, sorry again for the confusion before.
246:"The Solnhofen Limestone is diverse Lagerstätte" - perhaps "consists of" or better "is exposed in". 262:(or provide a "further" link) at 'Growth and breeding seasons' where the genus is first mentioned. 624: 609: 569: 495: 432: 362: 321: 222: 146: 115: 17: 290: 402: 568:
are certainly noteworthy, and if you look there you'll find a citation ready and waiting.
258: 92: 201:
Many .. were found in England. Perhaps say in which formations (or counties).
631: 656: 617: 603: 577: 565: 559: 530: 499: 466: 440: 426: 396: 370: 356: 329: 314: 230: 160: 629:
Thanks for the efforts on the review! I'm actually reviewing the article
206:"Holotype specimen of Cimoliopterus" - maybe say it's the jaw or snout. 218:
I've kept the images at 70px, 'cause 80px looked a bit too large.
272:
is actually already linked in the 'Life history' section.
173:
What a fascinating article, and on an iconic subject.
134: 103: 221:Many thanks. The tree works a lot better now. 8: 251:"closer related" - "more closely related". 30: 61: 33: 187:Edward Cope is a disambiguation page. 7: 24: 401:I've uploaded a cropped (new) 1: 165:I'll have a go at this one. 687: 582:Included, anything else? 657:19:19, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 618:18:41, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 604:16:45, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 578:14:13, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 560:14:10, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 531:17:40, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 467:08:22, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 441:07:57, 9 June 2020 (UTC) 427:20:45, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 397:19:05, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 371:18:58, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 357:18:54, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 330:18:39, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 315:18:34, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 231:17:47, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 161:16:41, 8 June 2020 (UTC) 535:Looking forward to it. 498:; Tolkien stated that 564:The "pterodactylic" 496:Pterodactyl (film) 18:Talk:Pterodactylus 89: 88: 678: 645: 642: 639: 628: 592: 589: 586: 548: 545: 542: 519: 516: 513: 471:Certainly helps. 455: 452: 449: 415: 412: 409: 385: 382: 379: 345: 342: 339: 303: 300: 297: 139: 130: 111: 43:Copyvio detector 31: 686: 685: 681: 680: 679: 677: 676: 675: 643: 640: 637: 622: 590: 587: 584: 546: 543: 540: 517: 514: 511: 453: 450: 447: 413: 410: 407: 383: 380: 377: 343: 340: 337: 301: 298: 295: 270:Rhamphorhynchus 259:Rhamphorhynchus 256:Maybe wikilink 194:Ornithocephalus 171: 120: 97: 91: 85: 57: 29: 22: 21: 20: 12: 11: 5: 684: 682: 674: 673: 672: 671: 670: 669: 668: 667: 666: 665: 664: 663: 662: 661: 660: 659: 504: 503: 491: 490: 489: 488: 487: 486: 485: 484: 483: 482: 481: 480: 479: 478: 477: 476: 475: 474: 473: 472: 359: 281: 280: 276: 275: 274: 273: 264: 263: 253: 252: 248: 247: 243: 242: 238: 237: 236: 235: 234: 233: 213: 212: 208: 207: 203: 202: 198: 197: 189: 188: 184: 183: 179: 178: 170: 167: 140: 87: 86: 84: 83: 78: 73: 67: 64: 63: 59: 58: 56: 55: 53:External links 50: 45: 39: 36: 35: 28: 25: 23: 15: 14: 13: 10: 9: 6: 4: 3: 2: 683: 658: 654: 650: 646: 634: 633: 626: 625:Chiswick Chap 621: 620: 619: 615: 611: 610:Chiswick Chap 607: 606: 605: 601: 597: 593: 581: 580: 579: 575: 571: 570:Chiswick Chap 567: 566:Nazgûl#Steeds 563: 562: 561: 557: 553: 549: 537: 536: 534: 533: 532: 528: 524: 520: 508: 507: 506: 505: 501: 500:Nazgûl#Steeds 497: 493: 492: 470: 469: 468: 464: 460: 456: 444: 443: 442: 438: 434: 433:Chiswick Chap 430: 429: 428: 424: 420: 416: 404: 400: 399: 398: 394: 390: 386: 374: 373: 372: 368: 364: 363:Chiswick Chap 360: 358: 354: 350: 346: 333: 332: 331: 327: 323: 322:Chiswick Chap 318: 317: 316: 312: 308: 304: 292: 288: 287: 285: 284: 283: 282: 278: 277: 271: 268: 267: 266: 265: 261: 260: 255: 254: 250: 249: 245: 244: 240: 239: 232: 228: 224: 223:Chiswick Chap 220: 219: 217: 216: 215: 214: 210: 209: 205: 204: 200: 199: 195: 191: 190: 186: 185: 181: 180: 176: 175: 174: 168: 166: 163: 162: 158: 155: 152: 148: 147:Chiswick Chap 145: 141: 138: 137: 133: 128: 124: 119: 118: 114: 109: 105: 101: 96: 95: 82: 79: 77: 74: 72: 69: 68: 66: 65: 60: 54: 51: 49: 46: 44: 41: 40: 38: 37: 32: 26: 19: 630: 269: 257: 193: 172: 164: 153: 143: 142: 135: 131: 117:Article talk 116: 112: 93: 90: 81:Instructions 104:visual edit 48:Authorship 34:GA toolbox 632:Echinodon 144:Reviewer: 71:Templates 62:Reviewing 27:GA Review 653:contribs 638:Jurassic 600:contribs 585:Jurassic 556:contribs 541:Jurassic 527:contribs 512:Jurassic 463:contribs 448:Jurassic 423:contribs 408:Jurassic 393:contribs 378:Jurassic 353:contribs 338:Jurassic 311:contribs 296:Jurassic 169:Comments 157:contribs 76:Criteria 641:Classic 588:Classic 544:Classic 515:Classic 451:Classic 411:Classic 403:version 381:Classic 341:Classic 299:Classic 127:history 108:history 94:Article 192:So is 136:Watch 16:< 649:talk 614:talk 596:talk 574:talk 552:talk 523:talk 459:talk 437:talk 419:talk 389:talk 367:talk 349:talk 326:talk 307:talk 291:this 227:talk 151:talk 123:edit 100:edit 644:767 591:767 547:767 518:767 454:767 414:767 384:767 344:767 302:767 655:) 651:| 616:) 602:) 598:| 576:) 558:) 554:| 529:) 525:| 465:) 461:| 439:) 425:) 421:| 395:) 391:| 369:) 355:) 351:| 328:) 313:) 309:| 229:) 159:) 125:| 106:| 102:| 647:( 627:: 623:@ 612:( 594:( 572:( 550:( 521:( 457:( 435:( 417:( 387:( 365:( 347:( 324:( 305:( 225:( 196:. 154:· 149:( 132:· 129:) 121:( 113:· 110:) 98:(
