business. But Bullshido has transcended far beyond that. They've come to an elitist mindset where no school affiliated with any of their shit list organizations nor any of their students are credible as "martial artists". It's evolved into bragging rights and chest thumping. (Just ask JKDChick sometime what her thoughts are on ATA students). My point is, if an organization decided to "Westernize" their teaching style to make martial arts more accessible to Americans, that can be okay. It's not how you might do it, but it is a far cry from foul business practices. Each school and instructor needs to be held accountable for their own training and actions. Instead, they choose to demonize what they disapprove of, because they would never choose it for themselves and don't think others should have the power to do so, either. Combating ignorance is one thing, but they ... yeah, this is turning into a rantĀ :) At any rate it's a pleasant change to talk to someone sane from the site. Looking forward to working with you, too!

directly to the Bullshido site or it's article and I did not even state directly my view of such comments. If you have a problem with a POV I hold (yes I strongly dissagree with practices described in the articles) please discuss it with me rather than deriding my comments. I know nothing first hand of the ATA, and while I have heard may things that I would consider bad practice I deliberaly did not mention the style or school, but commented of the stated actions of the instructor. --

any problems with those articles on the talk pages in the form of suggested changes, such as rewording secitons you feel are POV to work towards compramise. While I agree with the principles behind the Bullshido website I also believe in supporting Knowledge's NPOV as being essential to make it useful, so a voice from a source that has been critisized would help add balance, the problem is that most voices have been rants not constructive critisims that can be engaged with.

e.g. to promote alive training as realistic martial arts training, and to be honest about what you are teaching someone (however well), if it is to fight/for self-defence, or if you are teaching them something else. Also to promote fair business practice thing the martial arts, i.e. over charging for

You suggested she read the articles; I wasn't accusing you of the POV, but rather the articles themselves (I don't know if you've worked on them or not). I have to stay away from them, since I feel very strongly against the actions of the Bullshido proponents. Sorry for accusing you of POV; I reacted

It's precisely the drama you refer to that I inferred was already taking place; it's a fight I don't have time for right now, unfortunatelyĀ :| I'm glad to hear that you are helping to keep the articles POV-free, though. Don't get me wrong; I am all for keeping crooks in the martial arts world out of

I am glad that you have been able to help the reader and look forward to working with you else where. P.S. on the TKD page if you have looked at the history you will be aware that strong oppnions abound so any calm voice is helpfull (unless you want to skip the headaches... I avoided is for 3 months

I have worked on both of them, however I have done my best to make the a neutral report of the position held, not an advocacy of it. I can see why you would react strongly as I know there are several less than complimentary threads on Bullshido.net relating to the ATA. I would encourage you to state

any POV, both articles discuss instructors who refuse to answer questions, so please refrain from making unsubstantiated accusations. I referred them to the articles to make up their own mind on the subject (which from the tone of the comments they were already concerned with), I did not refer them

strongly at something which you intended to help the woman who posted. On a side note, I've been in communication with her, and I have actually met her instructor in person before, and live in the same city, so she and I are discussing her situation in detail. Thanks for the help though.Ā :)
