841:, a group which wreaked mayhem in Arabia beginning in the 18th century, and which eventually was able to wrest control of what came to be called Saudi Arabia. This is a small minority in Islam. Any movement which attains that size, however, comes to have, in fact, a wide variety of opinion in it, and there are Wahhabis who are merely "fundamentalist" Muslims, but, unfortunately, there are also those who hate all traditional authority in Islam and are quite willing to murder in the name of their warped vision. The *actual* example of the Prophet was to make peace when there was not sufficient power to exert sovereignty without warfare, not to mention terrorism, which is, by definition, the action of those who claim weakness and oppression. The opinion of the vast majority of the knowledgeable in Islam is that such rebellion is forbidden, it is 2022:, but left you no note here. You should probably not do that, to put it short, and it's still often called canvassing even if you don't ask anyone to vote a particular way. Telling people to come participate in debates is generally viewed very dimly, except in really exceptional circumstances, and this one was getting a fair bit of attention in any case. It's unfortunate that you were accused thusly by someone who didn't even bother (or have the courage, perhaps) to sign their comment, but nonetheless, this is usually what happens when you're found asking people to participate in discussions. Sorry to bug you so much, and I hope all this doesn't dissuade you from contributing; I just mean to point a few things out so you don't get yelled at for them later. 853:, moving away from oppression, and, of course, the Muslim calendar is dated from just such an act by the Prophet. Complicating all this is the fact that Muslims mostly lived under repressive dictatorships for the last few hundred years, and the habits of keeping one's head down and not making waves are entrenched, so many Muslims don't speak up when faced with those who claim to be leaders of Islam, promoting obvious nonsense as the command of God. This is *our* problem as Muslims; but there is a new generation of Muslims, raised in relative freedom, who are not so shy, plus there are converts such as myself, some of whom have gone on to become serious scholars of Islam, such as 239:
a short writeup of the music scene, perhaps drawing from those articles, in the Music section of the Case Western Reserve article. Knowledge (XXG) just isn't the place for detailed articles on small college bands. I have deleted the ones that were redirects to the music scene article, and am about to list the others on VfD, where you are welcome to make the case for their notability. I hate to see your efforts wasted, but you do have time before the VfD ends to find a better place for your writeups; I believe wikicities might have what you're looking for.
