Krugman is a Nobel Prize winner for his work in international trade theory and economic geography. If you want to cite one of his journal papers in an article about one of those subjects, great. But as an op-ed writer for the New York Times, he's just another pundit, and his opinion about Ryan and "class warfare" is just another polemic.
