The Brahmins thrived on the business of knowledge. In fact, the creators of knowledge were mostly from other castes or communities. Brahmins were just collecting, preserving and using it. They imparted knowledge only selectively for their own benefits. The classification of Sudra is done by the ruling class by referring to the Pundits, just as we are nowadays referring to any printed text and assigning authenticity. This is a tricky case.
