Crenshaw apartment complex along Martin Luther King Blvd., now known as "The Jungle," (although it wasn't that bad when we lived there). We also lived in two modest residences at the foot of
Baldwin Hills, which is adjacent Crenshaw, although considered part of the same general community (the top of Baldwin HIlls has pricier residences). Both Danny and I went to primarily African-American Audubon Jr. High (a middle school) in Crenshaw. I attended primarily African-American Dorsey High. The family subsequently moved to West L.A. after I finished high school and moved out, and Danny attended University High. I only mention that we grew up as "minority" students in primarily African-American schools and neighborhoods, in that it helped shape who we are. "Crenshaw" is the historical center of African-American arts and culture in Los Angeles. I, among other things, am a professional Afro-Latin percussionist and still maintain cultural and artistic ties to my old neighborhood. Shortly after high school, Danny spent an entire year traveling and hitch-hiking from the west to east coast of Africa -- he jammed with indigenous musicians throughout the trip and later incorporated African rhythms and instruments into our group, The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.

I just read your invitation to "clue us in" regarding where the Elfman brothers grew up. I am 4 years older than Danny and spent my early years at
Western and 103rd, deep in the heart of "South Central L.A." We later moved to the Crenshaw area, and actually lived in three locations there; a massive

article says one and
Richard's says another is probably a source issue. It's not really important. I'm curious, however, why both mention the "inner city" or "racially mixed" aspect. I even removed it once, and Richard himself appears to have added it back in. Is this for street cred? That seems odd
593:
Currently that’s what the filmography section claims. It may have been a projected date at some point, there have been many over the last ten years, but, so far, all that has been seen is the
Princess Polly song, story boards, and a quickly cobbled together trailer / investors come on reel.
552:
It is odd that Marie is currently not even mentioned in this article. Especially considering
Richard Elfman has always credited her as being a big part of making Forbidden Zone happen. ( Actress, singer, choreographer, set creating, painting, etc.
573:
The Elfman brothers father was "Milton Elfman". ( Specifically noted by
Richard Elfman on the commentary track for "Forbidden Zone". Milton was one of the demons in that film.). Just so's no-one thinks they was raised by a single mom!
435:
Looks more like there was only one award, and for something she wrote directly for TV, so if it were my decision, I'd say change "Emmy Award-winning novelist" to "Emmy Award-winning WRITER", which isn't so misleading. Just my two

Probably not THAT important - or perhaps it is , as I don't know her personally - but
Richard's first wifes' name is Marie Pascale Kling. ( Odd as he may be , pretty sure he didn't go full on inbreeding. )
632:
319:
Why do the articles on Danny and
Richard list entirely different area of LA where they gre up? They are close to the same age, so growing up would be considered during the same time frame.

By all means be bold and work them into the article. I'm pleased to see that there are sources, and it would be good to get them in while folks are paying attention. --
