    The redirect seems like a reasonable aid to find the page. As redirects are for helping people find the right page, I don't think it should matter that the name is different from the official brand. I was intending to move the disambiguation page Chengdu airport to this name for proper capitalization. However, the original creator of the redirect states that this is a common name for the target airport. Would need sources to confirm this, and I'm unsure if this is even an appropriate redirect (due to the disambiguation page). Johnj1995 (talk) 19:00, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

I feel like this is more appropriate to ask via a WP:RM on the disambiguation page (i.e., whether Chengdu airport should be moved to Chengdu airport (disambiguation) to make it a redirect to the same page as the nominated one). 1234qwer1234qwer4 19:23, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Also, I don't know if this is even an appropriate target for Chengdu Airport, because non-Chinese users might be looking for Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, which is where all international flights to Chengdu are operated.   • The status quo looks correct to me. Is Chengdu Tianfu International Airport commonly known as "Chengdu Airport"? The article gives "Tianfu Airport" as the shorthand for that one. On the other hand, the article says that the shorthand for Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is "Chengdu Airport". As for the lowercase variant, one would be looking for an airport in Chengdu, not an airport named "Chengdu Airport". The disambiguation does list the airports in Chengdu, but I would suggest that Chengdu#Air is more helpful. -- Tavix 14:56, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
Chengdu Shuangliu for years was the only Chengdu Airport, so lots of older sources rightfully called it "Chengdu Airport". However all of the international flights went to Tianfu after it opened, and many EN wikipedians may be thinking of Tianfu Airport now when typing in "Chengdu Airport". I would look at the post-Tianfu opening source usage to see if Shuangliu is still called "Chengdu Airport" without disambiguaion WhisperToMe (talk) 04:26, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Situation I haven't run into here: This was a BLAR to an article that does not currently mention the subject, but restoring the article would go against WP:NFF, which means there isn't a snowball's chance in Hell that the article would survive AfD. I think the best approach is restore article but draftify, which is the better way to incubate something in development hell anyways. (Normally I wouldn't take something to RfD just to !vote restore, since anyone can do that, but if I were to unilaterally restore and draftify I feel like that would be backdoor deletion of the redirect.) -- Tamzin (they|xe) 00:56, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

    Well we can't predict now whether there will be updates in the next six months. But even if there aren't, having deleted history be at a draftspace title is helpful for if the film does get made years from now, letting a future editor know that they can have it undeleted.     Given how long ago we're talking, I feel rather confident that there will be no updates in the next six months. Even if I'm wrong, I would rather deleted history be in mainspace rather than draftspace.   • This film is not discussed at the target page; therefore, it cannot be kept. The subject is not notable, canned since planned in 2015 with no evidence of anything besides an empty IMDb page. Cannot be restored per WP:NFF. Per WP:DRAFT, draftspace is not an infinite holding ground for future pages. There is no chance that the page can be "fixed" to survive deletion at this time, so draftification is not the way either. Deleted history is more useful in mainspace; people will see this in logs, and also seen again during the AfC & NPP process if something ever does come up here. @Jay: Imo if there is consensus to delete Magik (2015 film) and Magik (film), there is consensus to delete Magik (2015). Especially so as this third page has no substantial history. {{Db-xfd}} may apply, as a bit of an WP:IAR procedure. Waiting a week to delete a page, for the sake of waiting a week to delete a page, feels like bureaucratic bureaucracy. Whether or not you concur with this logic idk. Couch sex

The result of the discussion was delete. There was some suggestion of retargeting this to Casting couch but there was enough opposition that I don't see a consensus for that. Given the way this current redirect fails our BLP policy, even if there had been consensus for a retarget, deletion of the history would have still been appropriate. erm, someone must have removed it. the info I was trying to direct to was just under "public opinion", and I've also been changing similar redirects to wherever has been the current destination since nobody could figure out where it goes in the article. Hanshan Deqing can be "Silly Mountain" - "Crazy Mountain" is in the article, but "Silly Mountain" can be used to distinguish from Hanshan (poet) ("Cold Mountain"). The other items in the disambiguation page are different Chinese characters and I don't think any can be "Silly". There is also Silly Mountain (Arizona) - not sure if there should be a separate disambiguation page or (if there are only two uses) a redirect to one or the other.   • Retarget to Silly Mountain (Arizona), or move that article to Silly Mountain and retarget there, possibly with a hatnote to it being an alternative name for Hanshan Deqing. The fact that "Silly Mountain" didn't even merit inclusion as a possible name at the latter article (which does include "foolish mountain" as well as the above mentioned "Crazy Mountain") seems to indicate to me that the Arizona mountain is what someone would be looking for searching under this, though it's a plausible translation and probably makes sense to hatnote.     @Dylnuge that could just be happenstance, though. We should probably avoid focusing on editor behavior (what is currently written in Knowledge (XXG)), rather on reader behavior (what is actually out there in the real world that should be documented by an encyclopedia; WP:RF). So we should probably answer these kinds of questions:
    • Is it likely that the bulk of our readers would associate this term with a single topic as the bulk of sources would do the same?
    • Is it an ambiguous name that our readers might encounter in reference to several topics in sources?

    I couldn't find any reliable sources that call Hanshan Dequing "Silly Mountain". Googling for it shows a few dozen self-published sites and college papers, but it's not clear to me it's a common translation in literature at all. Searching for "Silly Mountain" on its own pretty exclusively brings up stuff about the Arizona mountain. Did you find sources indicating otherwise? Dylnuge 14:36, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

  • Retarget and add a hatnote. What matters is whether sources exist and how prevalent they are, not whether they are reliable or not. Less than a minute on google found at least 7 sources that clearly identify this as a name for Hanshan Deqing, so it's clearly something that will be searched for. Oneupmanship should be a more appropriate target. Definition of "one-up" is "to practice oneupmanship on" per Merriam Webster. The video game term is spelled exclusively as "1-up" in the target article. "One ups" isn't even mentioned in the finger. ~Liance 18:09, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Delete and delete all similar- there are a lot of these left over from a large disamb renaming/page moving that I did of many villages added in northern Sagaing Region. I think most of the others got approved by others during NPP. Unfortunately, I didn't save the original list. The three RMs at Talk:Al Mushayrifah (31°30′0″N 35°52′0″E)#Requested move 28 December 2023 , Talk:Hunawng (24°49"N 94°53"E)#Requested move 29 December 2023 and Talk:Panglong (23°53'0"N 98°22'0"E)#Requested move 30 December 2023 are where I got the list to go through all the Burmese villages. The late RMs got deleted, however- I think the places listed there are in my user contribution history of new pages made from 15 March to 18 March.   • Delete as the Moldorm boss does not originate from Link's Awakening; it first appeared in the game immediately before this one and so people looking for it are equally likely to be looking up the ALttP incarnation as the LA one. I think this symbol may be used by Croatian neo-Nazis on the internet, but it seems unlikely that someone unfamiliar with this would see it and then look it up on the English Knowledge (XXG). People who speak Serbo-Croatian already know what the U represents. In the unlikely scenario that an English speaker sees this and looks it up, the redirect isn't very helpful because it provides no context on the symbol itself as used in the present day.   • I wouldn't be surprised if this gets used in some sort of Internet vernacular, could it be a plausible search term? Goodness knows fringe organization sympathisers congregate in Internet forums, so it's plausible that they may have developed this sort of a shorthand without regular people noticing, and then it might be useful to allow regular people to look this up if encountered... In general, I'd say the listing at U#Other uses probably suffices, though our search results for -U- would not be useful to find U, the reader would have to first prune the symbols manually. funny thing. this was the japanese name for paper mario during its development, a fact that is mentioned in its article. outside of that, the name is also found in certain unused rooms in that game, but that hasn't been covered yet. retarget to paper mario (video game) cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 20:22, 27 August 2024 (UTC)

  • Keep. The current target explains the connection to Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. A remake is not a sequel so I'm not convinced that the remake would be considered "Super Mario RPG 2". If others disagree, I think the solution would be to simply remove the anchor since the remake is also discussed at the same article. -- Tavix 15:53, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
