This page consists completely of original research (including lots of unencyclopedic information) and has been this way since at least 2011. Searching for this place online, it seems likely that it exists (there's a Facebook page about it, and it's included on weather sites) but there is not a single reliable source about it. Even if I'm wrong about the latter and this place is notable, judging by the condition of the article and the lack of improvement over the past decade, WP:TNT seems applicable. (To avoid confusion: the place is in Pakistan, not in India as the article currently states, this seems to have been changed at some point.)Lennart97 (talk) 23:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

The result was delete. Consensus is to delete. There's a lot of words in the couple of keep votes but nothing that actually notes specific sources which discuss the subject in depth. Editors are reminded that AfD is for discussion of specific articles and whether or not there are sources supporting specific notability guidelines, a number of comments here on both sides seem to stray some distance from that. Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL. The article claims that John is an international footballer but this is not supported by any reliable sources; she was called up to the squad but never played. Caps for Nigeria are documented by numerous sources so, if John has been capped, we should be able to find evidence. For example, if we take Ngozi Ebere, we can see evidence of her caps from multiple reliable sources such as Extra Time, GSA and Soccerway. Spiderone 22:04, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

There's no clear evidence that she has played for the national team from her Eurosport profile. She may well have been called up to the squad but she needs to have actually played at least part of a match to qualify for WP:NFOOTY. The sourcing is still just short of GNG, in my view. There are two sources that give her slightly more than a passing mention. What has BLM got to do with this? This is a legitimate AfD on a subject that does not meet our agreed inclusion criteria. Skin colour has nothing to do with this. Spiderone 10:14, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
That does not prove that she has actually played a game for Nigeria, though Spiderone 07:54, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete She fails GNG and NFOOTBALL (it's difficult finding out whether she has played for a senior international team). A false allegation of this being a racially motivated AfD is appalling. Dougal18 (talk) 12:42, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Comment - for what it's worth, I'm mixed race anyway so the thinly veiled accusation of racism is a laughable one. Spiderone 13:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Comment: Sometimes I wonder if Knowledge is even serious about closing gender gap, when they are mirroring the bias of the media in the interpretation of their guidelines. I am glad things are changing in the Nigerian media space, but some Wikipedians don't even care when they percieve there is a chance that the footballer might not have played for her country. I remember how the record goalscorer in the NWFL (Amarachi Orjinma) was also deleted, despite having some okay sources. Same also happened to some other women footballers I created that have won major individual awards in the league at the highest level.

I do not agree that the all-inclusive nature of WP:FOOTBALL applies to women's football, as virtually all women's league are not deemed "professional" by Knowledge standards. What I interpret this to mean is that if you're a women footballer, and it is not clear that you've played for your country at the highest level, there is absolutely no chance of you having an article, especially when you are African (since we are at an evolving stage of sources properly covering women football). Nowadays, and based on recent AFDs, I will also say that even if you've played for your country, you could still be deleted if you fail GNG.

There is something wrong with this line of thoughts! HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Yes, you're right Handsome Boy and it's why one of the original co-founders has moved on to creating Everipedia. Here's Orijinma's article which is now a top 5 result in the United States when searching her name: . There will likely be other platforms as this one has allowed the bs for far too long. Hmlarson (talk) 21:22, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
As with other businesses with a monopolistic advantage, Knowledge needs a viable competitor to get things right. HandsomeBoy (talk) 22:34, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Caps for Nigeria are well documented as I have proved with links to several websites that document them in my original nomination comment. If John was ever capped, I would expect at least one source to clearly show that information, including date of cap, opponent, whether she was a substitute etc. If you believe that Charity John is notable enough then please prove that she satisfies WP:BASIC and give us evidence that she meets Knowledge's wider criteria on biography notability as with any other article on a person, male or female, regardless of ethnic background. Spiderone 07:58, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
To be honest, my comment is not really about this AFD specifically, but I saw this AFD as an opportunity to vent my displeasure on what has been on my mind for a while now concerning the "discriminate notability bar" for women footballers. Let's also remember that unlike male footballer's, women footbalers tend to have a longer active national team career. I follow the Nigerian national teams passionately, and I can say that in the last 10 years, there have been very few additions to the squad. This is unlike our male team that caps players very frequently, limiting the creation of women players to only those that can be proved to have played for the national team at the highest level is implying that you really do not want many women footballers on Knowledge. HandsomeBoy (talk) 12:01, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Spiderone You have proven nothing. Most editors who work in this area know that. Curious why it's so important for you to delete this article in particular when she clearly has references and national team experience. You're putting in a lot of effort for what? Clearly not to expand the article and add references per WP:ATD. Hmlarson (talk) 18:20, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
I would happily expand the article if sources existed with which I could do so. Many footballers fail WP:NFOOTY but pass WP:GNG such as Sammie Wood, Sara Mérida and Angela Fimmano. Charity John does not appear to be in that group. Spiderone 18:20, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete - fails GNG and specific football notability Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:17, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete per WP:NFOOTBALL failure. Number 57 12:49, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep I agree with others who have noted the obvious deficiencies with N:FOOTBALL rules for cases like this. WP:Football frequently gives off strong Manosphere vibes, as it is notoriously sexist. But it is discriminatory in all sorts of other ways too... and yes in this context it is important to note that Black Lives Matter. Anyway, this is a borderline case and for me the coverage of national Cup finals etc with her champion club Rivers Angels is enough to nudge WP:GNG. Spiderone has claimed that caps for Nigeria's Super Falcons are well documented but I am not sure that this is always the case. For instance I found that John was named in the squad for two friendlies against Japan in September 2013, along with Ebubeleye Whyte. I haven't been able to find the teams for the Japan games but the coach praised the performances of both his goalkeepers, perhaps implying that John did play some part. John apparently played in a 2014 AWC warm up friendly against a male team before she was cut from the final squad. So she is there or thereabouts and - realistically - even if she didn't get on the pitch in Japan (or in any other games), that in itself won't make too much difference to her overall notability. Bring back Daz Sampson (talk) 20:51, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete The sources in the article do not provide significant coverage of the individual, failing WP:GNG, and I have been unable to find that the individual has played for the senior national team. All of the sources sited are just passing mentions of the individual, usually in the context of a team performance. The individual also has not played in a fully-professional league, so they fail WP:NFOOTY. As far as political comments unrelated to AfD, please take these comments elsewhere. Knowledge is not a soapbox and we are not here to right great wrongs, and AfD is certainly not the place to discuss changes to policy and guidelines. If you have issues with notability standards, take it up at the relevant talk pages i.e. WT:NSPORT. Jay eyem (talk) 17:19, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
I'm still surprised that it hasn't been taken up at WT:NSPORT yet. Spiderone 18:53, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

The result was delete. Clear consensus to delete, rationale in the sole keep vote weak at best, notability via national championship won is not supported by any guideline and whilst a Google search may bring back results, not specific links have been presented that might begin to satisfy GNG. Semi-advertorialized and unreferenced article about a digital arts festival, with no strong claim to passing our notability criteria for events. As always, every festival is not automatically entitled to a Knowledge article just because its existence is technically verifiable -- media coverage has to establish its importance for an article to be justified. But once I removed all the WP:ELNO-violating links threaded throughout the article body where a thing mentioned in the body text was offlinking to its own self-published website about itself instead of to a Knowledge article about it, there were literally no "references" left at all, much less any reliable or notability-supporting ones from real media. WP:BLP of a political and business figure, not reliably sourced as passing our notability criteria for either occupation. As written, the article does not claim that he's ever held any political role that would confer an automatic pass of WP:NPOL -- it says he was an organizer and activist, not an elected officeholder -- so the key to making him notable enough for inclusion would require getting him over WP:GNG on the sourcing. But there's just one reference here, which isn't enough by itself, and the article features a lot of completely unsourced biographical detail that falls somewhere along the line between original research and the possibility of outright conflict of interest. As I'm not an expert in locating Bangladeshi sources, I'm willing to withdraw this if somebody with Bengali language skills can improve the article to properly demonstrate his notability -- but in this form, it's not good enough. Per Worldbruce's comments, I have changed my view from "speedy delete" to "delete." While the article as it is has few sources and is not WP:BLP-friendly, it is clearly about a notable figure, and a number of sources on this person exist if you use the terms provided below. With these sources, the article could be brought up to standards. But if it isn't updated, it should go. To be continued, HarrySay hello! 04:42, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

There is the potential for an article under this title but right now it is just a unsourced list based on Knowledge and is WP:OR. I've checked Knowledge:Manual of Style/Lists to see what the standards are for lists and I think that this one fails to include its selection criteria or how it is dating the origin of these movements. Also, this is a mix of denominations, churches, religious practices and religious movements. Liz 17:11, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

  • If you think there is potential for the article, then I suggest a Draftify.
  • Keep: per nom this list does need work, but I think it works well as a navigation list per WP:CLN / WP:AOAL. The page views are significant (7000+), I believe this shows the list has some interest / usefulness. No objection to Draft if there is a consensus for this option. I will try and do some work on the lead.   // Timothy :: talk  12:07, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
  • Comment: Liz, per my keep above, I have done a little work on the article, specifically the 18th century and the lead. I'd like you to take a look at 18th century; I think this is representative of what the article could become. I ask that you consider WP:CLN, "Consider that lists may include features not available to categories, and building a rudimentary list of links is a useful step in improving a list. Deleting these rudimentary lists is a waste of these building blocks" and the thought this could eventually evolve into a WP:SUMMARYSTYLE article.
I agree that the selection criteria needs clarity. I know this is backassward (pardon), but because the list already exists, I think this could be clarified as someone goes through and improves the list. The bigger problem is the bias. I'd be willing to work on this (slowly) if the list is kept.   // Timothy :: talk  15:36, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Admit that odsc and codementor appear to be self published sources but were used only to support the content in the article. I have removed those references from the page. As far as other sources are concerned, they are mainstream newspapers in India (CCN News 18 being one of the top 5 News channel in India) and are considered as secondary, reliable sources covering the subject in detail. They are definitely not press releases, neither did they look like paid articles to me as I have seen many articles on Knowledge being cited to these same sources and they all have been written in the same manner.Iqra S. If I were to remove all the press releases from this article, we'd have 0 sources to discuss, so that says more than the baseless keep votes here. If it was a press release article, there would have been some sort of evidence. Since there is no disclaimer or any indication in the article, i don't really think it is a press release. As i mentioned before, there are hundreds of pages on Knowledge that have been cited to these references and have been written in the same manner, so are you claiming they are all paid or press release articles?-Iqra S. • Selective merge to Niels Bohr Institute. There's just not a lot to be said about it, and a paucity of worthwhile sources (job postings and press releases from affiliated organizations aren't really material to build an article upon). Between the two possible merge targets, the Institute and DTU Space, the former seems preferable as the primary affiliation of the center's director . XOR'easter (talk) 20:37, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

WP:BLP of a smalltown mayor, not reliably sourced as passing WP:NPOL #2. As always, mayors are not automatically notable just for existing as mayors, and just having been the first woman mayor of her own small town isn't an automatic notability clincher either -- and notability is not inherited, so she also isn't entitled to special treatment just because her husband (who was a provincial MLA) has an article. Rather, the notability test for mayors hinges on the ability to write and source some genuine substance about her political significance -- specific things she did in office, specific impacts she had on the development of the town, and on and so forth -- and not just on the ability to offer technical verification that she existed. But the sourcing here consists of the town's own primary source website about itself, a glancing namecheck of her existence in an article about her nephew, and just one article about her initial election as mayor, which is not nearly enough. This would be a PROD in usual circumstances but, since some of the people that created the article are still active users, they may wish to make a keep argument.

This fails WP:LISTN for multiple reasons:

  • Firstly, the list has no navigational purpose as the overwhelming majority of the buildings featured are not notable enough for their own Knowledge article.
  • Secondly, this topic does not have WP:SIGCOV in WP:RS. Database listings in Emporis, Skyscrapernews and Skyscraperpage do not constitute significant coverage.
  • I see no evidence that the topic 'List of tallest buildings in Sarasota' is covered as a group by reliable secondary sources but I am happy to be proved wrong here.
  • No significant high-rise building under construction so little chance of future notability; no point in sending to draft.
  • The city is not the largest in Florida nor is it the capital.
  • This city has fewer than 60 000 residents. A stand-alone article makes no sense.
  • I really do not believe that a building being taller than 46m makes it notable. We do not set the bar so low in Tampa so why are we doing it here?

  • Comment - I think that it should be kept because the buildings are actually somewhat tall. The tallest buildings in Bradenton article had buildings in it that were no where near the height of ones in Sarasota. For example, the Estonia article has some of it's top buildings as tall as those in Sarasota. In my opinion, I think the buildings heights are notable in the way that their heights are comparable to many of those in the articles for a city or a country's tallest buildings. However I don't think the structures themselves are very notable as many of them do not have their own Knowledge pages. Seeing if a building has a Knowledge page is a good way of vetting whether or not they are notable. Skim 13:53, 29 November (UTC)

Competitive swimmer who does not meet any of the criteria in sports notability guidelines or in general notability. There isn't a guideline for swimmers, and there should be, but until there is, this article can be in draft space. Subject has not competed in the Olympic Games and does not appear to have had other significant coverage. One of several competitive swimmers who have had articles, mostly stubs, written by team manager, who is conflict of interest editor.

Article about footballer who has only played semi-professionally except for a 5-minute appearance in the Copa do Brasil and a 4-minute cameo in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. There is no online Portuguese-language coverage of this footballer other than database entries, match reports and transfer announcements (and nothing at all which would be in-depth coverage). According to soccerway.com, he hasn't played semi-professionally since 2018. Although having played in a few minutes in a fully-pro league match creates a presumption of notability under WP:NFOOTBALL, there is a long-standing consensus that when an article comprehensively fails WP:GNG as this does, the presumption isn't valid. See Knowledge:Articles for deletion/Intake, Inyo County, California. I'm not convinced there was ever anything here to be a "former settlement". One building at the presumed site on the 1888 topo; it disappears quickly. By 1970, the power plant referenced in the article appears, although there is no feature clearly labeled "intake". Newspapers.com brings up a couple uses as a local landmark re road construction in the early 20th century, this could be what's referenced. This suggests it's just an intake. There was definitely a feature in Butte County known as Intake, based on the newspaper.com mentions, but none of them actually described the place. Looks to probably fail WP:GNG and WP:GEOLAND. Don't know what Durham says about it, but the topos clearly label it as the intake for the aqueduct where water is drawn from the Owens River. This doesn't fit any of the CSD criteria, but there's absolutely no reason why we should have an article on this. • Delete. No post office :-). Searching newspapers.com for "Intake Inyo" came up with a number of hits for fishing concerning the Los Angeles Aqueduct intake, where intake was not capitalized. A 1912 newspaper article states that the intake was so modest as to be unimpressive. JSTOR found nothing of interest. GBooks did find which says that there was a phone line to "Intake", which was capitalized. This was the only reference I found that was capitalized. Chalfant's The Story of Inyo mentions the intake twice, in lower case. At best there was a non-notable construction camp at this location. As the location is not legally recognized and there is at best trivial coverage, #1 and #2 of WP:GEOLAND are not met. Cxbrx (talk) 16:53, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Effectively a WP:BLPPROD-type situation: WP:BLP article with no inline sourcing, and no true secondary sourcing at all. Subject was main cast (for just two seasons) in only a single Canadian TV soap opera, and doesn't appear to have any other major roles, so it's unlikely she passes WP:NACTOR. However, I can find no secondary coverage at all of the subject, so clearly a WP:BASIC fail (and, again, this is effectively a WP:BLPPROD situation currently). --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:27, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Delete My standards and Knowledge's were quite different than when I made this in 2005. The reason there was no inline sourcing, is that Knowledge didn't have the convenient "ref" system currently used, and expectations were quite different. There are reliable third party sources to confirm she did star in Paradise Falls (findable in proquest), but are largely about Paradise Falls, not her. If you want to go after the other less known actor bios on this show that I did, go ahead, but I suggest doing a simple redirect to show would be easier than AFD, as the show itself is easily notable. --Rob (talk) 03:02, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
