Bay Ferries Great Lakes
Just read your message re. the Spirit of Ontario I and related articles. I was expecting NFL to establish some type of subsidiary in both NY and Ontario to operate this new service for Rochester, however there was no mention of a name until the following Toronto Star article on April 29, which dropped the name "Bay Ferries Great Lakes". I had been expecting something like Great Lakes Ferries Ltd. or Lake Ferry Ltd. etc., so the name wasn't entirely surprising.
The info for the Bay Ferries Great Lakes Limited entry is pretty sparse, but one thing I'm not 100% certain of is whether this subsidiary ends with "limited" or "incorporated", however I assumed "limited", given how all other NFL subsidiaries have been named (ie. Northumberland Ferries Ltd., Bay Ferries Ltd., NFL Holdings Ltd., etc.).
Aside from its mention in the article, I have yet to successfully find this subsidiary's name on the corporate registry of New York. Unfortunately Ontario requires payment of a fee to search their corporate registry. It could be merely the formal name for a numbered company - I have no idea really. I've also read where provincial and state corporate registries sometimes aren't always up to date, or are updated on a monthly, bimonthly or quarterly basis, so it could pop up sometime in the coming months...
I suppose we could always personally contact the reporter who wrote the article, although I might be able to work on some local contacts here in eastern Canada at NFL for more info. At any rate, I'm sure the official info will be available soon enough once the service starts operating and we see the actual corporate names in the legalese fine print on the reverse side of vessel boarding passes. 'Cat' ferry set to begin anew
John Spears
(snip)
Rochester Fast Ferry Co. - a corporation owned by the City of Rochester - bought the Australian-built ship in February and has been working on re-launch plans ever since.
As operator it has hired Bay Ferries Great Lakes, a unit of Northumberland Ferries Ltd., which runs ferries from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Maine. Its ferry between Bar Harbor, Me., and Yarmouth, N.S., is also called The Cat.
(snip)
I just received a high-res image of the new Bay Ferries Great Lakes corporate colours for Spirit of Ontario I from a friend and noticed that there is now a lower-res version of the image shown on NFL-BAY's website: http://www.nfl-bay.com/english/fast/index.html
You can make out the Bay Ferries Great Lakes corporate logo near the starboard quarter if you look closely. "The Cat" service markings are similar to the Yarmouth-Bar Harbor vessel, with the addition of the "Rochester-Toronto" text underneath. The oblique aerial photo is obviously for a promotional run-by off the dry dock at Port Weller. Bay has been known to do this occasionally with its Yarmouth-Bar Harbor Incat 048 and now Incat 059 vessels, usually off the Forchu lighstation at Yarmouth, or near the entrance to Bar Harbor, with the images being incorporated into marketing materials. I'm not sure if the high-res image can be used here on Wik as it is likely NFL's property, but I'll check into the licensing issues. Plasma east14:54, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
Cool! Nice photo - hope to be able to try the service later this summer when I head to Ontario via upstate NY.Plasma east 01:25, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Uncat current project
I updated the current project on the uncat project page this morning, as March was blissfully empty. I hope I wasn't stepping on anyone's toes or bypassing the Official Secret Project Queue or anything. :-) RTucker21:00, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Haha, no permission necessary, just edit away. I appreciate the update to the current project. It is not my intention to "own" the page or even be the "leader" of the task force. It was set up merely to get an organized group to tackle the backlog of uncategorized articles. (And yes I realize your comment was humorous and not serious!) =) →EdGl21:59, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads-up! :) In a situation like this one, CSD G4 (reposted content) is often misused -- it applies only when content is reposted after an XfD. The right thing to do here is to re-tag the article with the original reason for speedy deletion (in this case, CSD A7 -- no assertion of notability.) The new deleting admin will see that the content has been removed before, and will probably choose to "salt" the page (protect it as deleted.) This prevents a vandal/unknowing user from wasting time with the same unencyclopedic material. If someone does come up with a good encyclopedic article on the topic, s/he can take the matter to Deletion Review, and the closer there will sort things out. I've "salted" this particular topic for now. Best wishes, Xoloz00:27, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I was told I could find your rationale for removing my contributed photo on your talk page. I followed the link and it only found a page on BBS Door.
I listed that the photo is public domain (I cited the source where it said so) and yet it keeps getting taken down.
Here is that information.
5. If you elect to use materials from this Web offering, please cite NOAA as the source, and include the appropriate URL of the page(s) from which the materials were taken. If you reproduce text, please cite the original contributing author and their affiliation.
Hmmm... I'm not sure I recall that image, although I might have proposed it for deletion at some point. Do you remember the filename of the image? At the end of the day, I'm not an administrator and cannot restore it, but if I did tag it I can hopefully remember why. RTucker14:18, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I put it back and they are complaining about no copyright tag despite my stating it is public domain (as per the above link). They don't seem to understand that it is a public picture (I did as the above stated and noted its URL and said it came from NOAA). Maybe you can check into this for me since I cannot seem to satisfy Knowledge (XXG) in this endeavor. Thanks, Steve
