Ice Climber

Thanks for putting boxart up for Ice Climber. I had been looking for a decent quality shot of it with no watermark logo. Do you know where you retrieved it from? Take care. --Blackbox77 (talk) 07:04, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Arisasagara.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Arisasagara.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Knowledge (XXG)'s criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Knowledge (XXG):Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 07:47, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Concacafchampionlogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Concacafchampionlogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Knowledge (XXG) under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Knowledge (XXG). If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Knowledge (XXG) page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

  1. This list is of topics that may be easy (or are fairly close) to Good Topic status. Consider helping by improving an article on the list that is not yet at Good Article status.
  2. Consider expanding an article from the project's list of stub articles and nominating it at Did You Know?. The project's goal is to have 100 total DYKs by the end of the year.
  3. All Knowledge (XXG) articles should be written from a neutral point-of-view, representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources.
  4. When the title of an refers to several things, it is necessary to provide links or disambiguate the page so that readers typing in that title can quickly navigate to the article that interests them. For example: World Heavyweight Championship (WWE).
  5. Addition of content that is likely to be challenged in an article needs to be verified with a reliable source
  6. Do not overlink terms in an article, only make links where they are relevant to the context.
  7. When creating an article that has an image, make sure the image is right-aligned in the lead or in the infobox, per MOS:IMAGES.

Fair use rationale for File:Mariasagara.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mariasagara.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Knowledge (XXG) constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Knowledge (XXG) page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NanohaA'sYuri 03:31, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Editing Tips

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

  1. Avoid using dirtsheets as sources. Adhere to WP:RS when adding information with a source to articles. For a list of reliable and unreliable wrestling-related sources see Knowledge (XXG):WikiProject Professional wrestling/Style guide#Sources.
  2. Refer to WP:NC during the process of renaming an article, if a name does not adhere to these guidelines, be bold and move the article to the correct target name. If there is a naming conflict, follow the steps to a resolution or discuss the move on the project's talk page.
  3. Avoid overlinking in an article. If a subject has been linked once already in the body paragraphs, there is no need to link it again. Lists are the only exceptions to this policy.
  4. The lead section of an article should introduce the subject and summarize the entire article's contents. The size of the lead will depend on the size of the article.
  5. Adhere strictly to the Biographies of living persons policy when adding to information to biography articles.
  1. Only add controversial, possibly contentious or libellous information if it comes from a reliable source and is verifiable.
  2. Make sure that all information contained in biographies of living persons is written from a non-point of view perspective.

Editing Tips

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

  1. The project's New Year's Resolutions are listed here, and a list of topics that are close to Good topic status is listed here. Consider helping by achieving an aim listed or by improving an article on the Topics list to Good Article status.
  2. Please familiarize yourself with the general notability policy of Knowledge (XXG). Avoid creating new articles that do not satisfy the requirements.
  3. When the title of an refers to several things, it is necessary to provide links or disambiguate the page so that readers typing in that title can quickly navigate to the article that interests them. For example: World Heavyweight Championship (WWE).
  4. Please avoid adding rumors to articles. Most rumors cannot be sourced with a reliable source and go against the Biographies of living persons policy.
  5. Be aware of words to avoid. Certain words, if chosen poorly, can subtly promote a point of view.

  • As part of the project's New Year's Resolutions, there is an ongoing effort to decrease the number of stubs to 10%. As of June 21, we are at 11.73%, with 488 articles currently in Category:Stub-Class Professional wrestling articles. It still would be greatly appreciated if members would expand, source and improve stub articles, and a list has been placed on the stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers and tag teams that should be fairly easy to improve.
  • Based on the members list, there are currently 224 members participating in WikiProject Professional wrestling.
  • The WP:PW cleanup listing was updated for the first time in three months. Please help out with fixing any of the problems listed, and removing them from the list.
  • There is an on-going discussion here regarding the "In wrestling" section of biographies, and what should and should not be included. All opinions are welcome.

The article The Sagara Family has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article does not establish the notability of this game

While all contributions to Knowledge (XXG) are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. EyeSerene 14:07, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Sagarafamily.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Sagarafamily.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Knowledge (XXG) under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Knowledge (XXG). If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Knowledge (XXG) (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Knowledge (XXG) page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 00:32, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Azuran! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 697 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

It has recently been brought to the attention of WP:PW that the newsletter is being to delivered to several users who have not been actively editing for several months. As a result, their talk pages have become increasingly large, unmanageable and slow to load due to a lack of archiving.
In response, this message is being sent to all editors listed in Category:WikiProject Professional wrestling participants to say that anyone who does not list their name at Knowledge (XXG):WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active before May 16 will be automatically listed at Knowledge (XXG):WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, and will no longer receive the newsletter or any notification of it. If you are added to Knowledge (XXG):WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, please feel free to remove your name if you desire.
If you wish to continue receiving the newsletter as normal, please add your name to Knowledge (XXG):WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active. If you simply wish to receive notification of a new issue, but not have the full newsletter delivered to your talk page, please add your name to the notification only list.
If you have any queries please contact me at my talk page or leave a message at WT:PW. Thank you for your co-operation. ♥NiciVampireHeart00:36, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Knowledge (XXG):Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:58, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Arsenalfirsttitle.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Arsenalfirsttitle.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Knowledge (XXG) takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly 15:18, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Francisco Morazan4.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Francisco Morazan4.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Knowledge (XXG). Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:45, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Héctor Flores

The article Héctor Flores has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all constructive contributions to Knowledge (XXG) are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Knowledge (XXG) arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
