All Powers In WWI

The following are all the Allied powers in WWI: (Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, the British Empire, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Ecuador, France, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, the Hejaz, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serb-Croat-Slovene State, Siam, the United States, and Uruguay).

The Central Powers consisted of: (Austria-Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria, and Turkey).

Optional Powers I could Add

Because there were more powers in real life than there are in this game, I would like to add a few powers to the game to make it more interesting. I would like to add to the game 3 different countries: Belgium (Allied), Portugal (Allied), and Bulgaria (Central). The capitals of each power will be added as well: Belgium (Brussels), Portugal (Lisbon), and Bulgaria (Sofia). They will have their own units as well. Belgium will use Italian units, Portugal will use Russian units, and Bulgaria will use German units. Because of these additional powers the way to achieve victory has to become harder. For the Allies they have to control Berlin and either Vienna or Constantinople and Sofia till the end of the US players turn. For a Central victory they have to control London or Paris and two other Allied capitals till the end of the Austria-Hungary players turn.

The Turn Order of Powers for 1914 will be changed to: Austria-Hungary, the Russian Empire, Germany, France, Belgium, Portugal, Bulgaria, the British Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Italy, and the United States. Also the starting IPCs will change a little. Here's what they'll change to: Austria-Hungary (26-IPCs), the Russian Empire (25-IPCs), Germany (35-IPCs), France (24-IPCs), Belgium (3-IPCs), Portugal (4-IPCs), Bulgaria (3-IPCs), The British Empire (30-IPCs), The Ottoman Empire (16-IPCs), Italy (14-IPCs), and The United States (20-IPCs).If you've come to this page, you're probably wanting to contact me. So a bit of background before you do. I'm primarily interested in history (especially Asian) and music (especially bassists and metal bands), but I will edit whatever I come across, regardless of topic. Oh, and I speak a little Japanese too, so I'll help out with the transliterations. Hope somebody comes by soon!

The human eye is a wonderful device. With a little effort, it can fail to see even the most glaring injustice.

This editor is taking a lunch break.

A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus:

  1. What am I trying to say?
  2. What words will express it?
  3. What image or idiom will make it clearer?
  4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

And he will probably ask himself two more:

  1. Could I put it more shortly?
  2. Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?

But you are not obliged to go to all this trouble. You can shirk it by simply throwing your mind open and letting the ready-made phrases come crowding in. They will construct your sentences for you - even think your thoughts for you, to a certain extent - and at need they will perform the important service of partially concealing your meaning even from yourself.

  1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
  2. Never use a long word where a short one will do.
  3. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
  4. Never use the passive where you can use the active.
  5. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
  6. Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

To write or even speak English is not a science but an art. There are no reliable words. Whoever writes English is involved in a struggle that never lets up even for a sentence. He is struggling against vagueness, against obscurity, against the lure of the decorative adjective, against the encroachment of Latin and Greek, and, above all, against the worn-out phrases and dead metaphors with which the language is cluttered up.

A mass of Latin words falls upon the facts like soft snow, blurring the outlines and covering up the details ...

― George Orwell, Politics and the English Language

How shall I explain the dying that was done?
How shall I convey that each one
Did the callous calculus of life,
In their mind resolved
The algebra of necessity
And wrote the value of their days
Against the bloody margin
In an understated hand?
They will want to know:
How was the audit done?

Unconventional but effective support for Wikipedians involved in the War against Vandalism, POV-pushing, Spamming and bad faith edits

It is remarkable that Wikipedia is claiming not to be a site for advertising and promotion, but on the other hand it is extremely difficult to remove articles that are plain advertising or promotional. This is due to the many editors who claim that normal editing should do the trick but fail to improve these articles they say can be improved. This seriously undermines Wikipedia's stance against advertising and promotion. The fact that WikiProjects become increasingly powerful with settings the rules is also a threat to the reliability, independence and quality of Wikipedia.

Unfortunately for many people, I do not discriminate. I treat everybody exactly the same, no matter how important somebody is (or thinks they are) or how inexperienced somebody is. I do not care about personal hobbies or local consensus when that is detrimental to the encyclopaedia....

The Banners Law

The more truth or freedom is in the username of an editor, the bigger the chance on a lack of truth and freedom in the edits of that editor.

Writing articles is fun, but...

...sometimes a bit dull and boring. Pictures can solve a lot of that. You can find loads of pictures in The Commons Picture Archives!

... how do I find coordinates for an article. The Coordinates tool is very handy for this.

... sometimes you want to know what articles you have created. Simply check that here.

... sometimes you just want to know how much you have done. Simply check that here.

Introduction

Tsarevitch Ivan, the Firebird and the Gray Wolf

Hi. My name is The Transhumanist.

As a transhumanist...

I love emerging and evolving technologies, and so...

I'm currently immersed in studying AI (particularly generative AI and reasoning engines), and big data.

I dabble in JavaScript, including writing user scripts from time to time.

My best user script so far, is SearchSuite...

SearchSuite provides further control over Wikipedia search results, such as on/off features to sort them, to present results one-per-line, and more. While it seems to work fairly well, there is definitely room for improvement. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

By the way, most of the scripts I've been working on are for building and augmenting outlines...

As an encyclopedist...

I'm interested in all knowledge, especially how to organize it so you can find whatever is most relevant at any given moment.

I've been around Wikipedia since the Fall of 2005, and have been working mostly on Wikipedia's structure, and its knowledge navigation systems, throughout that time.

Selected articles that I've worked on

TT, my friend, my mop would never have been gained without your incredible expertise. My kindest regards to you, and drop by as often as possible! Now, a little token of my appreciation...

The Golden Wiki Award;
This, the Golden Wiki Award, the highest attainment level of awards and barnstars, goes to you - The Transhumanist - for being one of the most helpful, kind, resourceful and generous Wikipedians I've had to utmost fortune to meet. Your contributions around the Wiki - at the WikiClassroom, in Dispute Resolution, at the Welcoming Committee, but most of all being a genuinely fun guy, are an amazing feat, and if half the trolls I'll undoubtedly meet after gaining my mop (thanks to you) took a leaf from your book, Wikipedia would be a nicer place.

Not many editors here have the same good attitude and provide the same service as you - I don't have any specific point to put across, but I thought you should just be prodded and reminded that you do a lot of good around here, in the hope you'll keep it up. Treat your pony with respect and he will be your faithful friend! We need more wikipedia editors like you! Montanabw 02:22, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Love the outlines

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I think your planet outlines are really cool. I have long thought it was a shame that only Wikipedians seem to know about Books or Portals, because they are really great tools for structuring knowledge (while everyone loves diving down the Wikipedia rabbit hole, we could really do with some better content organization). The outlines strike me as a great way to bring that sort content organization to mainspace, where it will actually reach a large number of readers. I notice that I am the first one to edit them besides yourself, and I hope you know that I do so with love.

What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar
Great idea with the outline articles - a great solution to a need for better mainspace-based content structuring! I see from WP:Outlines that you actually came up with this concept some years ago, but this is the first I've noticed it. A2soup (talk) 02:46, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Transhumanist, thank you for your extraordinary efforts on behalf of portals. It reminds me of the time when a series of attacks on scientific bibliographies led to the formation of WikiProject Bibliographies. I don't understand why your detractors are so passionate about deleting portals, but your actions have been a model for how to deal with an attack constructively. The Article Rescue Barnstar
May all who see this barnstar know that The Transhumanist made a valiant and commendable effort for defending the portal namespace from deletion. It preserved countless hours of work initially invested into creating the content. Moreoever, The Transhumanist, is doing a yeoman's job in attempting to improve the content within with portal namespace. RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 00:24, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

@RightCowLeftCoast: Thank you. I feel honored. Please keep in mind that I have not been working alone. Credit goes to the nearly 400 editors who came forward to speak up for the keeping of portals. And although the RfC to delete all portals is over, the job of defending portals from deletion is not. For the portal namespace to be retained in the long term, the portals in it will need to be improved to a worthy quality level, otherwise we may see more deletion attempts. This task is far more than a single editor can handle. Fortunately, many editors have come forward to meet the challenge. Working to develop portals and the entire portal system, is a team of 80 editors who are diligently redesigning, upgrading, updating, and maintaining portals. They are the members of the Portals WikiProject, and without them there might be no portals. They are doing a wonderful job, and I am very proud of them. Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   17:22, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello there! I'm Ed Erhart. I've been a volunteer editor on Wikipedia since March 2006 and a site-wide administrator since September 2009. In the past, I have been the editor-in-chief of the Signpost, a Wikimedia movement-focused newspaper, and a coordinator of the Military History Project.

Much of my time on Wikipedia has been spent writing. I have concentrated on early-twentieth-century warships with a particular interest in the South American dreadnought race that gripped Argentina, Brazil, and Chile from 1907 to 1914. I have helped write thirty featured articles, a quality marker awarded to "the best articles Wikipedia has to offer". Most have furthered the goals of Operation Majestic Titan, a long-term collaborative project that will see all battleship and battlecruiser articles rewritten and combined into a single featured topic.

When not contributing to Wikipedia as a volunteer, I work with the Wikimedia Foundation's Communications department. My staff account is located at Ed Erhart (WMF). Edits, statements, or other contributions made from my volunteer account (this one) are mine alone and do not reflect the views of the Wikimedia Foundation; I have plenty of views that are separate from those of the organization. Any accidental cross-pollination between the two accounts, such as forgetting to log out, etc., will be swiftly corrected.

Comments from Z1720

Some comments after a quick skim:

  • The Gameplay section needs citations, as indicated with the "citation needed" tags.
  • Suggest expanding the "Legacy" section, if possible.
  • I suggest looking at the sources already in the article, and seeing if there's anything that was omitted that can be added back into the article. I also suggest that you search for new sources in WP:LIBRARY, Google News, WP:RS/P, WP:VG/S, and your local library system. Adding this information will help you become a major contributor to the article.
I hope this helps. Z1720 (talk) 02:55, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

AssessmentUK Politics Assessment

Welcome to the project page of the Politics of the United Kingdom WikiProject! The project is made up of a group of editors who are interested in British politics, and who would like to improve Wikipedia’s coverage of the subject. We create, revise and refurbish all kinds of articles within the project scope, which is listed below. Please feel free to help out, and join our project, if you wish.

Just add your name to the roster below, and get to editing!

Overview

See also project scope.

This project is intended to cover all aspects of Politics and Government within the United Kingdom. Given the broad range of topics that fall within this scope, there are several areas of overlap with similar projects (such as WikiProject UK Parliament constituencies).

Where a subject is already supported by a more focussed project or work group, the more focussed project should take the lead. This project will act in a support role for the more focussed projects and attempt to provide co-ordination between projects when necessary.

Suggestions are a great way to voice opinions!

If a more focussed project does not exist for a subject (or where the focussed project becomes inactive), this project will take direct responsibility for that subject.

Timeline scope

The project should cover the period from the creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707, through the integration of Ireland into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801, to the modern day. Articles relating to politics or government in England, Scotland or Wales before 1707 should only be adopted by the project if there was a continued effect on politics or government after the union. Likewise, articles relating to politics or government in Ireland before 1801 should only be adopted by the project if there was a continued effect on politics or government after the union.

Articles relating to the Republic of Ireland should not be adopted by this project unless they have a direct bearing on UK politics or government. Special care should be taken in adopting articles about Ireland around the 1920s; the Irish Free State was set up in 1922 but the UK's name wasn't changed to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland until 1927. If you are in doubt on whether an article should be adopted please discuss it on the talk page of this project first.

General maintenance work

  • Political make-up of local councils in the United Kingdom is a high-maintenance but high-importance page. A proposal: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom/Archive 8#Adopt a council! (a project proposal). Cheers! FLYING CHRYSALIS 11:55, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
  • Expand coverage of articles in Category:Results of United Kingdom general elections by parliamentary constituency so that they reach the fullest extent, and reformat the existing articles to one massive table each. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 00:24, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
  • Add sources to Unreferenced BLPs.
  • Expand any of our stub articles.
  • Particularly for former MPs who have short (stub) articles. Who's Who is a good place to find basic information for adding to an article - it may be available online for free via your local library.—TrottieTrue (talk) 12:08, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
  • Identify pages that need infoboxes by adding |needs-infobox=yes to the project banner.
  • All MPs past and present should have infoboxes - this is mainly an issue for those who served several decades ago or longer
  • Add infoboxes to any articles appearing in this category.
  • Correct any infoboxes which don't have "Member of Parliament” hyperlinked at the top. This seems to have occurred because "constituencyMP" is used as a field instead of "office". Replace "constituencyMP" with | office = ]<br />for ]. Remember to number "office" if the person has multiple offices in the box.
  • Check this category for any articles requiring urgent attention.
  • Add {{WP UK Politics}} to all talk pages within the project scope.
  • Assess the quality of all our unassessed articles
  • Identify pages that need images by adding |needs-picture=yes to the project banner.
  • Find images for any articles listed in this category.
  • Historical local election results are lacking from many articles. I've added 2014 and 2018 results for Westminster City Council, but there's virtually nothing pre-dating that for Westminster. It seems quite hit and miss as to whether historical results will be available for other councils. I think metropolitan boroughs (ie. London and Manchester) are often covered more comprehensively - Islington has results for 1998, I think. These historic results are often of interest for the high-profile figures who contested those elections. Local election results for years gone by are available online (Andrew Teale, Elections Centre and the London Datastore sites being notable sources) and could be transcribed here. I think the London councils might be a first goal to complete.--TrottieTrue (talk) 01:11, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
  • Add referenced dates of birth from reliable sources for serving MPs etc - a number of MPs elected in 2019 have no DOB on their article.
  • Add referenced dates of birth from reliable sources to the article List of living former United Kingdom MPs, also checking the subject's article has a citation for the DOB.
